I still remember watching Royce run through his opponents in the UFC 1 and it literally sent chills down my spine, I thought it was so epic, well before him pissing hot for roids and all that, but back in the day, Royce was the shit.

Sean Brady is fighting next week, an undefeated WW prospect who is a Gracie Black belt, against Chiesa, and that's going to be a banger. I favour Brady, but Chiesa is longer, bigger with sig reach advantage, and I think significantly better offensive grappler, offensive being the keyword, and much more experience.

I know Chiesa is kinda whiny and not really a big fan of the guy either, but the only men who ragdolled RDA like Chiesa did were Usman, Covington and Khabib. And if Chiesa can choke out Dariush, you better believe he can do it to Brady. But then again, I'd think Brady can tap Chiesa too and more well rounded and it probably is going to the ground one way or another, can't wait!

Then it got me wondering, Brady is a Gracie Black belt, how many of those do we still have in the UFC?

Ortega
Nate
Nick
Brady
Weidman

Who else?

I am on Brady bandwaggon, but he sure has no hype behind him. Hope he pulls through, I do have Brady, but Chiesa is no joke. I think Brady is good enough to come through, but we haven't seen that much of Brady really.

Aljo is a black belt under Serra which puts him under the Gracie banner.

Idk how many, probably not a lot and for a good reason. Grappling has gone way past the gracies, and almost leaving the newer generation of them irrelevant. I watched bj penn vs renzo Gracie the other day and even back then it was obvious that the gracies were old news. Bj left for nova uniao for a reason, and the cheesy 20 or whatever gracies in renzos corner to the two guys in bjs corner made me laugh for some reason

Alex Morono too, should have remembered that without looking it up as he has a Gracie tattoo.

The best BJJ coach in the world is from the Gracie lineage.

Renzo's never been the greatest representative. As a jiu jitsu practitioner, I can tell you with a straight face, and look you in the eye, while guaranteeing you that Royce could tap Renzo if Royce was wearing a blindfold.

Reallly? That’s interesting. I’m a purple belt and watch a lot of old pride events, but not much of Royce. I always thought renzo was considered the best mma fighter in the family, outside of Rickson of course. Just genuinely curious why you say that

yeah but he didn't get it from Renzo.

Weidman is Renzo Gracie/Serra Black belt. Renzo gave it to him with Serra.

It puts him under the baner but I dont think it makes him a Gracie Black belt, but I'm not sure.

That's my opinion but I ain't no Gracie.

But that's what I think.

I think he's full of shit. Renzo >>> Royce

If you have a black belt from a Gracie school you're considered a Gracie black belt.

I'm fairly sure that's not how it works. Machado got his BJJ black belt from Gracies too, that doesnt mean Machado students are Gracie Black belts.

Eddie Bravo got his BJJ Black belt from Machdao. Who got his BJJ black belt from Gracie.

If Sterling is a Gracie Black belt by getting it from Serra, is Eddie Bravo a Gracie Black belt?

Makes no sense

But then again, I'm not affiliated with Gracies by any means, so I could be wrong, but that makes no sense to me whatsoever

I think Weidman got his from Matt too though
