Why is he turning his back so Daukaus kick can have more efficient impact ?

It looks like he's going for a spinning backfist then changes his mind.

Yup, that's what I'm seeing.

He's certainly not doing something he feels will defend against the kick, if that's the TS' implication.

I'm more confused as to why he never tried to implement any sort of grappling, even after getting rocked and dropped. Granted he was doing really well striking for like 85% of the first round (which says a lot about Daukaus's game IMO), but the result was a foregone conclusion.

Shamil is bigger and has shown the ability to wrestle more than once and other than fending off the advances of Old Man Oleinik, Chris's defensive grappling is largely untested. Instead Abdurakhimov tried to engage in a boxing match with the younger, faster man on a brutal KO streak.

Good analysis, for real.

I enjoyed the "fending off the advances of Old Man Oleinik" line / it makes it sound like Oleinik was trying to hit on Aspinall in some seedy pub.

He hesitates which is the worst things you can do in fighting

Idk but that whole saliva action by him had me feeling pretty uncomfortable
