Throughout the Ortega fight and even during the recap afterwards they made it seem like it was this close, competitive , back and forth fight. Even when the 5th rd started, there was no mention of Ortega needing a finish or anything similar, even though that was the case clearly and that's what they say often.

This fight is a masterclass, complete and utter domination by the Champion disguised as a competitive fight with the guile of 2 submission attempts encapsulated in 52 seconds.

Volk schooled and hurt Brian on the feet, landing whatever the fuck he wanted at any time he wanted, controlling the pace and distance. He also completely dominated him on the ground, ragdolling Brian and walking through his very best weapon, truly showing the world that Ortega has absolutely nothing for him.

The nuthuggery and blatant favoritism is real.

Commentary was rediculous. Normally I've put this kind of thing down to certain fighters having trained with members of the broadcast team, but I'm not sure Ortega has had any kind of relationship with DC or the rest of them? I guess Aussie fighters really aren't probably with American audiences.

Your exaggerating by quite a lot imo honestly . It was a competitive fight to an extent even if at the end of the day it was a solid 49-45 . He did almost get finished that's just a fact and also got dropped with a punch . I mean your making it sound like Ortega didn't belong their with him or something

The commentary bias is gross though and it's obviously because Ortega is the more popular fighter and potential cash cow . Same with the fans I still think Volk doesn't get the respect he deserves .

As impressive as that win was, it was not a masterclass. Almost getting subbed twice and losing the last round when you beat your opponent up for 4 rounds is not a masterclass.

I agree that the commentary was making it seem closer than it was, but a masterclass it was not.

Also, commentary works for the UFC, you know they have an agenda beforehand, they gotta try and push the bigger star.

It was just as bad in the Holloway fight. Volk was landing lots of hard shots on Max for the last three rounds, had him backing up a lot of the time, and really turned the fight.

But you’d never guess from the commentary.

I think Volk wanted to prove a point but playing in that guard was foolish when he got locked in that triangle. He should not have done that.

Agreed, very risky move. How quickly Ortega jumped on that neck tho.....I don't know how anyone could have avoided that, but holy fuck I'm still shocked Volk made it out.

They did the same thing in Ortega vs Holloway. When Max landed a seven punch combination on Brian they were like "nice..."
Whenever Ortega landed a shot they were like "OMG he might've hurt him!!! And a vicious legkick!!! Ortega looks brilliant right now!"

It's pretty clear they want the good looking Calfornia kid to win

If you watched Usyk vs Joshua the same night you might have noticed how far behind MMA commentating is.

It was amazing they let the fight continue after the rd where Ortega was basically unconscious - I thought they would have called it right there-

Ortega is the most hittable fighter in that weight divsion.

Dana pay CCC so we can see history.

Hope folks don't think commentary bias is a UFC only thing. As well as they typicals... "It's tight" , "Oh my <something>, "It's over" , Virtually <something>, etc.

Meh...so it goes. I half tune them out and oft completely miss a situation till it hits Sherdawg.

As bad as the UFC's commentary is, mainstream sports like the NFL are sooo much worse. I can't stand cookie cutters like Joe Buck.
