Reported from his recent appearance at UFC's Hall of Fame event:

Cliffs:

On Anderson Silva (3:35)
- Silva's recent boxing fight was an incredible and inspiring performance.
- Was initially skeptical and "afraid for him" when Silva fought Chavez, who has legit boxing credentials.
- It was amazing how Silva managed to perform at boxing like how he did at the highest level in MMA.
- The end of Silva's UFC career was "kind of sad" and he hopes that Silva can retire "on the top" (I assume he meant retire with a winning record).
- He is a fan of Silva and enjoys watching him fight.
- As a fan he wants Silva to keep going, but as a "human being", "nobody can beat time".
- Hopes Silva is healthy, happy, wealthy and can take care of his loved ones.

On Nick Diaz (4:30)
- Not sure if Nick would come back as good as he was before the long layoff.
- Hopes that Nick comes as good as he was, because he thinks Nick "left a lot of money on the table" through the inactivity.
- As a fan, he hopes Nick comes back even better and earns a title shot.
- Can relate to Nick on not enjoying fighting. Says that he hates fighting as well, but fighting has allowed him to get to where he wants to in life. Fighting is "the worst", but acknowledged that fighting has allowed him access to things that other people do not have.
- There are a lot of advantages (in fighting), but you need to pay the price.

Other stuff:

- Happy to be in the Hall of Fame. Its a "dream come true" and the "highest honors".
- "Will never leave the sport". Plans to hang around to promote and be an advocate for MMA.
- Feels fortunate that he had great training partners when he was competing.
- When UFC asked him on his preference for who to induct him into the Hall of Fame, he asked for Royce Gracie.
- Royce Gracie started everything for him when he watched UFC 1 as a teenager and knew that was what he wanted to do in life. Watching Gracie fight changed his life.
- There were fights he wished he could have done but "living with regret is always bad". Everything is a question of timing and money. It could have happened but it did not. It was unfortunate but at the end of the day he was happy how everything turned out.
- Most importantly, he can retire healthy. He is wealthy, but health is the most important, and it is not something that every fighter can have after retirement.
- Batroc the Leaper (MCU) may not be dead and could come back.

GSP is such a great ambassador for the sport. Shows that you don't have to be an asshole to get to the top. He is a sportsman through and through, and has nothing but kind words for his past rivals.

Also, he kept stressing the importance of health. Its a great lesson for any active fighters out there. Get in, get paid, and get out while you are still healthy (then again, GSP has been seeing UFOs and aliens so maybe he didn't get out totally unscathed either).

GSP knows Anderson is the Goat

One thing about GSP is that he never calls himself the GOAT. Guys like that are confident and happy about themselves, and do not see the need to climb up on whatever platform they see to heap self-praises all day. That's the hallmark of a truly great guy.

Its always the insecure folks with a chip on their shoulder (e.g. manlets who grew up poor, "little brother" runts of the family overshadowed by more successful siblings etc.) who have this desperate need to keep reminding everyone of their GOATness. Well-adjusted guys would usually just let their body of work speak for themselves.
