Why is "don't leave it in the hands of the judges" accepted?

Do you ever hear "Don't leave it in the hands of the toe truck driver" or "dont leave it in the hands of the electrician", "don't leave it in the hands of the 7/11 clerk" etc
Probably not, because we expect those people to do their fucking jobs. How can you have people who's job it is to decide who won a fight, and be unable to do so when a small child could watch a fight like Collard vs Manfio and say who won each round, but stupidity or corruption just robbed Clay of an opportunity to make a million dollars.

Or another example, the judge who scored the last round of Green/Fiziez for Fiziev even though he backed up the whole time and landed half the shots.

Like how does shit rise to the top like this? How is this tolerated for an established sport? What can be done about it?

Judges are subjective. Judges show inconsistency in literally every sport that uses judges. This is not unique to MMA. The only way to guarantee victory is to stop your opponent.

I agree that it is a problem, and that it is not unique to UFC or even MMA as a whole: 2 words to sum it up - Adelaide Byrd

Brilliant insight, thanks.

I am so sick of this shit. I know it wont do anything but I will be writing an email to an athletic commission tomorrow. At least its something.
Atta boy.

Look, you’re confusing begrudging acceptance with approval. No one disagrees with your frustration on this matter. And every one of us would also suggest to our Fighter he go for a finish of it felt 1-1 going into the 3rd, cuz for all anyone knows he might be down 0-2.

But this was all so obvious I didn’t think it needed to be said, so I fucked with you instead. Just a tiny little bit.

Anyway, Mousasi is about to fight. Have a nice Friday night.

Horrible argument.

One job is a matter of opinion. Other jobs you listed are a matter of facts.
What is the fact of truck driving? Is there a factual speed you are supposed to drive around corners? Is it your fault if the truckie drove too fast around a corner, flipped and squashed your car because his opinion was wrong that he could take that corner faster than he could?

It takes surprisingly little skill and knowledge to be a judge. Why leave your career up to three slapdicks who have no accountability. Their subjectivity coupled with, well their subjectivity can lead to huge losses. If you want to risk that good luck.

Because it’s the only way to guarantee your victory. Is it fair—no but it is what it is

Look at judged 'sport'. The same shit happens. Gymnastics, ice skating. All BS. All corrupt. And then there are sports where you can win. Basketball, futbol, tennis.

And then there are combat sports. Where you can win, OR have it judged.

So, don't let a corrupt officiating system control your livelihood?

Because it's also in your hands to set the outcome. You place it in other's hands when you let it go to the judges. You want to secure the victory? Get a finish. Want to hope for a victory? Let it go to the judges.

People see bad judging all the time, fighters shouldn't feel confident with a fight going to the judges - especially if it's close. You never know what the judges are scoring for or their actual level of understanding of the fight game. Only way to eliminate that is by trying to get a finish and setting the outcome yourself.

Because being a judge subjective with many variables. fights ,legal issues or gymnastics or kata jusging food or music or literally anything. Otherwise everyone would unanimously agree on everything all of the time. And what is right or the winner or the best

Your right, the prices should be subjective and left up to the customer to decide based on how clean the 7/11 is, how good of a job the clerk did, and how much they think the product is worth. In an honest and wealthy neighborhood the 7/11 might stay in business for quite a while but in the ghetto it would get ripped off and go out of business in one night.
