Derrick has little to no skill at all. Hes flatout a one dimensional power puncher that really cant do much else.

But his resume is decent

Rosholt
Gonzaga
Roy
Shamil
Browne
Tybura
Francis
Volkov
Ivanov
Latifi
Oleinik
Blaydes

Francis, Volkov and Blaydes are top 5 HWs of this era and hes beaten them all <Lmaoo><Lmaoo><Lmaoo>

yet he arguably lost to a washed up Roy Nelson, Ivanov and 5'7 LHW Latifi. He lost to many of the actual great HWs he fought even tho most were past their prime like Hunt, JDS and DC. Gane beat him down like they did and Meathead and Shawn Jordan murked him too. Hes 0-2 against Shawn Jordan <Lmaoo><Lmaoo>

I cant think of a fighter less skilled with as decent a resume

Dude the volkov fight was embarrassing, he was a punching bag until like the 4th minute of the 3rd round

On the other end of the spectrum, Michael Johnson has wins over Ferguson/Poirier and Usman said he's the only guy to ever knock him down in sparring, yet has an abysmal record considering how skilled he is.

Anything can happen in MMA. That’s especially true at heavyweight.

Derrick Lewis uses his toughness to survive long enough to land the one shot he needs to land. I love to watch him fight.

Say what you want about him now, but he's definitely a future Hall of Famer. With a record that impressive.

he definitely has skill, it’s just that a fighter like Gane has much, much more.

He definitely practices that thing where he just stands up from getting taken down. So, even though it is not a pretty technique, that's at least two skills

I feel MMA fans sometimes just want load the stats and attributes of 2 fighters into a computer and have the computer spit out the winner without ever having to fight.

I love Lewis because he breaks every rule to be a MMA. Skill doesn't mean anything if you're sniffing your opponents toes while sleeping.

he's got good timing and hits like a mack truck.

He's good at standing up.

He's good at pacing himself.

Every truly elite HW he's faced has handled him with ease. The skill gap between the elite and the rest is just that far off.

The Ngannou fight is weird though. Ngannou got handled by Stipe then came in at the lightest he has ever weighed and did nothing against Lewis.

Not as much as Sherdoggers. Lewis is a distant 2nd though.
