Usman has already faced Masvidal twice since becoming champ, and is now scheduled to face Colby and give him a rematch.

Most people assume it will be a walk in the park for Usman, so that will give him 4 title defences with the same 2 fighters out of 6 fights.

We can assume Burns will most likely win his next fight, and then get another title shot, which again Usman will be favourite, if he wins it will give him 6 defences with the same 3 opponents.
If Burns jump ahead of Leon, it will make Usman's last 6 opponents, the same 3 fighters, pretty bad IMO.

Leon is also favoured for a shot, who Usman has already fought, if Leon is given a rematch, it will be another rematch win for Usman.

Usman is potentially going to pad a large number of his title defences by given his opponents rematches, the only other potentials are Chiesa and Luque. WB wont be getting back into the title picture, and we can assume no one else will either, although people think Chimaev will.

I am not saying its all Usmans fault, partly it is for choosing to fight Masvidal so soon, but it shows the state of WW. You can argue its a weak division, or that the top 5 are just that good.

Maybe someone can derail him..

This is what happens when you clean out your division. Same with Jon Jones. You slaughter every good fighter then people say you're just fighting bums and your division is shallow.

addendum: And this is also why I don't think Khabib is the GOAT because there were still decent fights to make in lightweight. He never really leveled his division like Godzilla the way that Usman, Adesanya, and Jones did.

It’s not really Usman’s fault. But it is an indication of how weak WW is right now.

From an absolute shark tank 5-10 years ago, to career journeymen being consistent title challengers.
No it isn't. It's the ufc's fault for being clueless and only focusing on getting a few extra quick bucks.

this. Usman didn't clean the division, the UFC is just obsessed with rematches because it's a no brain move to make when you know the specific match up is the best money fight at this current time for the division.

people love forgetting that Leon Edwards has basically been waiting YEARS for a title shot while guys are getting title shot after title shot like Colby and Masvidal.

Cain Velasquez fought the same 2 people for 1309 days over 5 fights before losing to Werdum.

That's 3 years, 7 months, and 1 day in a row..... of the same 2 people...

How's that rank in comparison?
Pretty impressive, Conor will be set to face the same opponent for around 400-600 days, maybe more..

There is a repeating pattern or whenever 2 fighters have multiple matches with each other … both fighters fall off very rapidly not soon after.

This sounds like the same posts and threads that we have come to expect on sherdog "the toilet of the internet" every couple of lonely masturbation cycles. Now Usman is being regaled with sherdogs distinct honor of "fought Bums, journeymen or washed fighters" award winning threads.

God bless Usman, who has now joined the ranks of the great fighters before him who have only fought washed up fighters, overrated bums, or small men who were from a smaller division threads. I also enjoy the "he was on something" award winning investigative series on sherdog every year.

Sadly, TS sounds like a salty Khabib fan who have been very salty of late. Enough salt to melt snow on both continents.

Erm, when did I say in my thread "fought Bums, journeymen or washed fighters"

Go shit on someone else's thread

Other than Masvidal, the rematches and hypothetical rematches make sense, Colby is the 2nd best guy in the division and Burns is knocking on the door of legitimately deserving a rematch.

Mas rematch was a joke but Usman cleaned the division and the next best guys have already lost too him, until someone like Edwards, Luque or Chiesa get to the top, that's how it's going to be, and he would be the favorite against those 3 as well.
