I mean you can't have two primes so to speak but you can definitely have late careers resurgences or a more mature game with time.

I'm thinking of examples like Maia, Lawler, Glover Teixeira, who had kind of a second shot during their respective careers

Do you think Conor can be competitive again against the top 5 ?

he may have never primed to begin with given the generosity he received on his way to two titles

so in fact he could make a real comeback if he just took his head out of his ass and focused

but why would you at this point? dude made tons of cash and the guys just keep getting younger

By definition, a prime can only happen once.

Prime - Noun - "a state or time of greatest strength, vigor, or success in a person's life."

Well maybe there are primes that are mort spreaded ahah

He is semantically right. Prime is only once.
About Conor, he may have lost his edge… don’t know if it’s physically or psychologically, but right now I don’t see him being able to get another belt.

Lawler and Glover disprove this. Anyway, Conor is still in his prime, he lacks the size and one punch ko power at LW and WW that he had at FW. That's why he's losing. He's no different than he used to be. The guy lost to Nate Diaz when he was 27 years old FFS, he was never this invincible destroyer he was made out to be, at least not at LW. Guys who are big, tall, durable, well rounded and well conditioned have always given him fits.

Conor only had success bc he killed himself getting to 145 to beat lil midgets.

Had his bisping moment like GSP w Eddie and beat a journyman in Nick Diaz(some think he lost) Cowboy was shot!

He's really been done since Diaz beat him

What also has to be considered is how prime relates to the current state of a division. Glover Teixera was a title contender in 2014 and is in 2021, but the current version of Glover would not be as successful back then. A fighter in his later years can still has big success depending on the depth of the division.

There is physical prime and fighting prime. A fighter can be in their physical prime but not in their fighting prime and vice versa.

Yeah, the LW title shot was given to him at the right time, but the FW run was legit. I don't think you can say he received an easy road to the FW title. And he beat Aldo.

Not a Conor fan.

There's also athletic primes and technical primes in combat sports. Peoples games age differently. Like someone said semantically Khabib is right.

I think that Khabib is right. Maybe there are some exceptions where someone starts having some mental or physical issues, resolves them, and them goes back to their prime state.

Even prime Conor was never as good at a higher weight as he was at FW. He had 2 great performances and 5 where he either lost or won a close fight against a non top guy. To that we have to add tons of distractions and a lack of commitment, and him facing some great fighters who were simply better. There's no version of Conor that beats 2018 Khabib.

Now we also have to include a major injury and the passage of more time. So, no, I don't think he'll beat anyone in the top 5 if he makes a comeback.
