"Multiple sources confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting on Monday with verbal agreements in place from both athletes. While contracts have not been issued, it’s expected that the fight will go down on Oct. 2, although that date could potentially change depending on the UFC’s plans."

"Following a blistering 5-0 run in 2020 capped off by a stunning knockout over veteran middleweight contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Holland suffered back-to-back losses in his two most recent fights against Marvin Vettori and Derek Brunson."

"Now Holland attempts to get back on track while facing a tough prospect in Daukaus, who currently sports a 1-2 record in the UFC with a win over Dustin Stoltzfus and losses to Brendan Allen and Phil Hawes."

"Prior to his debut in the UFC, Daukaus was undefeated with a perfect 8-0 record while competing in promotions such as Cage Fury Fighting Championships and Ring of Combat."

I'll have to go back and watch Daukaus to confirm but this seems like another stupid matchup for Holland unless he has figured something out on the ground.

He's fine on the ground. He just gets taken down too easily.
I... what? If Daukaus can get him down and goes into 'hold him there mode' and doesn't go for a irrational sub to create a scramble or anything this likely doesn't go well for Holland. We just watched 50 minutes of Holland get smothered on the ground while jawing. His insane KO of Jacare is the only thing he's done off his back (in the cage) in months.

I'm not an expert, and in MMA anything can happen but seriously he has shown to be bitchmaid off his back against solid competition. If it is a 3 rounder as I assume it will be then maybe Holland explodes to his feet a bit more. He constantly closed his guard and didn't go for much after a certain point. Not that his opponents did either. Which might be his Kryptonite. He is young enough, he can change and grow but not in this short of time imo, be fine if I'm wrong.

Him training with DC and stuff is cool but has there been enough time to develop those skills?

He's been putting that work in big time at ATT and DC says his wrestling is coming along nicely.

Yes. Not really a fan of him but I hope his hard work pays off.

lil Daukaus got beat up pretty good in his last fight, now another hard match-up..

I’m surprised that Daukaus, who’s weird-looking, is not too big of a dog in the pole. This is a showcase fight for Holland.

You want the skinniest middleweight in the UFC, the type of guy who has a six-pack without having to work out, to cut 15 lbs?
How about train TDD instead?

To be fair with Holland usually fights at 170. He only started fighting at 185 because he was taking short notice fights

Damn, Daukus has 5 wins by Brabo choke. That's 50% of his career wins. That's kinda crazy.
