He literally got the better of these two dudes in the clinch. It's really impressive how good Floyd's "boxing grappling" is. I guess we can say that boxing has its own specific subset of grappling? It's his own thing and works in this context. It seems neither Conor nor Logan could really translate their wrestling into the boxing clinch game. Floyd was placing his forearms in their necks and pushing them very effectively. He also did very good landing punches from the clinch. Boxing from the clinch is an art of its own.

Btw: This fight would have been 8 rounds of Logan landing zero punches if Floyd decided to maintain the distance and just matrix the shit out of Logan's punches. Every time Floyd decided to do that, he was having success. Logan really wasn't landing shit. Then Floyd just decided to take the fight to him, which is something most people would say is a bad idea. He actually got very physical with Logan when he didn't had to, and was able to walk him down. If i was in my mid 20's, training boxing everyday with an elite coach, and a guy 6 inches shorter and 50 pounds lighter, retired, with a body filled with injuries, was able to simply push me around like that, i would be embarrassed.

A specialist in a certain field is definitely gonna be better at all the intricate aspects than a fighting generalist like Conor or a newbie like Logan.

Remember when GSP brought in his drunk friend who's a professional Muay Thai fighter? Even when he came in smelling like cigarettes and booze, he easily tossed around professional fighters and former wrestlers in the clinch

I hate Mayweather, and didn't know who Logan Paul was until about a week ago(I just thought there was some inside joke that I wasn't privy to where people were calling JP "Logan" *shrugs*).But I found it really odd that the day after the fight so many people were talking about how well Logan did. Like, were we watching the same fight? The guy that connected on like 5 strikes the entire fight and leaned on Mayweather for 7 rounds? Meanwhile, being half his age, twice his size and STILL somehow getting walked-down? Look, I get it. Pro boxer, some whom call the GOAT vs. a Youtuber. Fascinating! But I'd say, and it almost hurts, but for his age and that size disadvantage Floyd looked pretty damn good in there.

Edit- I keep coming back and looking at it. So yeah, saying that definitely hurt.

McGregor trained with his MMA coaches & Logan Paul isn't a full time boxer.

Getting handled in the ring by one of the best boxer's of all time isn't surprising when he's facing two guys who aren't boxers.

One is an MMA fighter and the other is a Youtuber who doesn't train boxing "Every day". When a fighter is walking you down in MMA with a high guard, you can take them down, elbow them, jump in with a knee, leg kick, ect. In boxing all you can do is clinch them or move around them.

Conor punched himself out. Likely won most of the first 5 or 6 rounds but the OP is a dummy so hear we are.

Those fights were circuses, and whoever watched them, the clowns.

It's almost like they couldn't knee or elbow to break off. Or kick legs to stop it from happening . Boxing seems to be a very dumbed down version of entry level fighting.

Why are people posting these threads in the ufc discussion section?

You don't remain the best boxer after retired. Floyd is a uy in his 40's that barely trains. Logan and Conor are two young dudes that train pretty hard and come from sports with grappling. Getting pushed by a retired 150 pound guy is pathetic. I can understand outboxed, but they got manhandled in the clinch, after raving about how much bigger and strong they were.

I agree with TS. Logan Paul and Jake has legitimate skills, access to the best coaches and gym, and both, Logan especially, have aspirations of being serious boxing contenders.

It has to be a little disheartening and humbling to realize you are not on that level. What hope does Logan have of making a splash in the cruiserweight division if he gets man handled, out boxed, and roughed by a retired middle aged pillow fisted former champ who is 50 pounds lighter?

A pro boxers core has to be incredibly strong. People underestimate how much clinching their is in boxing. That's why it boggles my mind Schaub continues to get work as an, "expert" he claimed McGregor would beat Floyd because of his strength in the clinch. Floyd completely manhandled him.

Yeah he bullied Logan easily. I actually think it was impressive how well Floyd held up strength wise in every facet, but he didn't look as clean offensively at all.

The greatest boxer ever couldnt KO 0-0 Mcgregor or 0-1 Paul?? Pretty sure every single other Boxer that is up for goat discussion would have KOed both easily.

You don't lose knowledge after being retired either. Boxing clinches are way different than MMA clinches, even Ben Askren (great MMA grappler / wrestler) said that when he was training for boxing. Also I didn't see them getting pushed around. They were getting walked down. Paulie Malignaggi said that inexperienced boxers can't pick up inside fighting as quickly as the other aspects of boxing. So it's not like they're going to fight Mayweather on the inside and win that. Mayweather was outboxing Maidana on the inside.

Just curious, what would you have done? Again, getting walked down in boxing is different than getting walked down in MMA.
