Junior Dos Santos and Overeem are gone.

Chandler and Tony Ferguson are top lightweights and they are in their mid to late 30’s. Beneil Dariush too.

Also RDA!

WW is okay.

LHW is a wasteland.

Glover is fighting for the title and he’s like 40.
Jan is 38.

Heavyweight is full of older guys too.

MMA used to be full of guys in their early to mid 20’s.

It feels like this generation of fighters is aging out and isn’t being replaced by up and comers.

crippled dom cruz is still fighting for Gods sake.

Can anyone name someone like a young GSP or Jon Jones coming up right now?

Nate Diaz is the co main on Saturday and while good. He’s been around a while.

I made a thread about this too awhile ago, I think we’re seeing less talent come to MMA, at least from North America. Nowhere near as many elite wrestlers, which has been the biggest pipeline of talent from the US historically

HW and LHW is always like that for obvious reasons

All the other divisions are as stacked as ever

Why would less talent be coming to MMA when there's way more money and fame to be had?

MMA is growing like crazy, it's insane some of yall convince yourselves it's actually getting smaller

You want "new young talent", but say "LHW is a wasteland" LOL.

Ankalaev, Jiri, Rakic, Jamahal, Crute are all like 30 or younger, which by 205 standards is very young. Probably a few guys I'm missing too.

Seems like you just wanna complain to me.

LHW is so uninteresting. the glory days of that division filled with big name after big name are gone.

LHW was filled with so many legendary personalities. It’s so boring these days.

TS, great question.
My theory is that with the explosion of popularity in MMA, and more practitioners than ever before, there is a higher level of competition at the regional levels and smaller promotions. Thus it is harder for a young athlete to smash his way through the competition and break into the UFC.

There’s definitely not as many elite American wrestlers coming over. They used to dominate the rankings and there would seemingly be a new one popping up everyday.

This literally makes no sense lol

Yes there are

Maybe there are fewer in the rankings, but that would be because more people are competing in the sport internationally, and more people know how to wrestle

Which is another reason MMA has more talent and is more competitive than ever

Yeah, so many boring ass fighters man. Jan, Jiri, Reyes, Santos, Smith, Volkan, Walker, Spann, Jamahal, Crute, Glover, Ankalaev, Cutelaba. No exciting fighters at all.
