It seems like a lot of people are happy Yan lost his title meanwhile say Jones losing by DQ was bull.

Both rules are bullshit, but the rules are the rules. I think Aljo situation is alot worse because he was trying to milk that position not to get kneed, which is lame.

Now I knew when Yan hit him, that Yan would get stripped. It is what it is. My problem is when Aljo started his fake dramatics, and literally everything he has done after. Thats what pissed me off.

Yan showed all he was the superior fighter, and can just win the title back when he gets his shot again. Aljo showed he is a little bitch cosplayer actor masquerading as a fighter.

The Jones elbow rule is bullshit, but what can the referee do in a sitch like that?

Jon jones was inexperienced, fighting in a loud arena with chants. Yan is already established, fought in an empty arena and clearly heard the referee's instructions. He deserved that L.

Even though both were winning or going to win you have to play by the rules. I still see jones as undefeated cause he would have won the fight anyways.I also still see Yan as the real champ.

Yan was a pretty blatant foul, I can see why kneeing a grounded opponent in the face would be illegal, can't see why 12-6 is banned lol especially when they allow those side of the head elbows when a guys shooting

I think they both were fine calls. I think if we are talking in terms of technique a 12-6 elbow is pretty dumb to be illegal because you can angle it a little and have the same result. Kneeing someone who is downed doesn't have something as comparable but I think they should both be legal tbh. Unjust? Neither are. Know the rules and play within them. Crappy outcomes? I'd go with Jones just because of the strike and it was pretty clear he could have easily angled off the elbows with the same outcome. Jan was clearly gaining momentum but it wasn't as clear cut that he would have won.

I feel like many have gotten away with as bad or worse elbows. I guess I’d have to watch it again but I’ve always thought it was a bad call.

Jones clearly wasn't aware what he was doing was illegal. Those strikes are often seen to varying degrees and usually are just a "watch the back of the head" it was just Jones was so brutally efficient.

Both were the right call

Based on the rules it impossible to dispute either of them.

Yan was dirty as it comes and full of intent.

Jones on the other hand while it was illegal, he clearly didn't understand that. I watched it back and the elbows that were illegal weren't that different to the ones which were legal. He was just trying to get around Matt's efforts to block them. Had it not ended the fight I doubt he would have even had a point taken.

Dude lost his belt. It's not hard to pick, but that's what happens sometimes.

I am not sure if the call was bad, but the rule is terribly hard to officiate. The question of how many degrees it needs to be off 12-6 for it to be legal is subjective. They were in the 12-6 motion but did appear to be on a bit of an angle to me. I don't know how big the angle needs to be for it not to be 12-6.

I wonder if it there was replay if the same call would have been made.

I'm sure people can justify either of them.

But obviously Yans DQ is more significant. Imagine if hamil vs Jones was for the title and hamil walked around with his new champion belt

Jones knows (and knew) the rules: and how to exploit them.

Jones got Yamasaki'd!

whats unjust is Jon not being permanently suspended

Surely you can only say that in retrospect, in view of later transgressions? Or do you seriously think that elbow should have spelled the end of his stint in the UFC?
