I’m always surprised with how small the waists on the Diaz bros are, do you think that’s a part of the reason they can’t generate big knockout power? How much does a midsection impact your style?

lol. I'm not sure, does anyone know? help this sherbro out

I just don't think Diaz bros are hard punchers.

Small waist or less density in their core? Small waist are pretty common in sports where cardio and dieting are frequent. Less dense cores (lower torso and lower back) are a different thing.

Yeah the Diaz bros don’t have a lot of density in their midsection, they have some of the slimmest physiques for a male athlete

I feel like small waists ARE a reason why they can't generate as much KO power as others in their weight class. I feel people with larger waists usually means thicker core ie more muscle fibers in the abdomen and lower back which equals more punching power. Most punching power comes from the core.

The KO ability is a combination of many characteristics and abilities physical and mental, not just a strong torso or waist!

Small waists are very disadvantageous against wrestlers.

not so much waist that usually has to do with fat but core and back definitely contribute to power. The Diaz bros have neither of those things which is a reason for their lack of one-punch KO's

It isn't about more muscle fibers, it's ability to generate more torque through twisting because you're more planted and wider area of twist in the hips themselves. In boxing this can negated to some degree if you have a big upper body and smaller agile waist, but in mma you can hardly get away with skinny legs.
