It seemed to me like he was milking it. He kept opening his eyes wide then when he was getting up he fell on the ground. He see people get knocked out cold and get up quicker than that. Reminds me of when Weidman got hit with a legal strike then when he realized he wasn't going to get a DQ win his head cleared all of the sudden. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and either way it doesn't matter, he was kneed illegally but I think the thing that sealed it for me was him whimpering and crying but no tears were falling. It seemed he was overcompensating to make it seem like he had no choice but to say he can't fight.

Only he truly knows. To be honest most of us would probably do the same in his situation. He probably knows he was kinda fucked.

I don’t want to accuse anyone willing to take a beating for a living of cowardice.

I don’t care because of what you said in the middle of that paragraph (“...either way it doesn’t matter...”).

But it’s quite clear than most sherdoggers agree with you. Dozens of threads and hundreds of posts confirm.

I’m split on this entire thing. On the one hand: He was definitely hurt enough that he shouldn’t have continued. He was concussed. But he also shouldn’t have posted photos with the belt after winning like that. Shitty situation all around

According to Dana he went to the hospital and was fine. Meaning not even a concussion. Just his bell rung. He deserves an oscar because Joe Rogan bought it as he was concussed. Also most stupidest rule in mma. It's way to easy to land an "illegal" knee.

Yeah I get it I don't blame him at all for not continuing the annoying thing for me was it seemed like he was milking it to make it seem like he had no choice and we wanted to continue but physically couldn't

Let’s put it this way, when his career is over, he has a future in films..

It was a very hard shot to take. Yan was winning and would've won, but if Aljo continued to fight he could've been KOed and that ILLEGAL shot would be a factor of that
I get that and I don't blame him he just appeared to act more hurt than he was. Then the fake crying like we wanted to fight still.

He was very hurt, his back was tight, his ankles was tender, hangnail, all these things were in direct results of the illegal knee

You say it’s easy, but it doesn’t happen that often.
For what it’s worth, Yan was getting conflicting messages from his corner. And that knee definitely hurt Aljo but I do believe he played it up a little

Not sure but taking a hard illegal knee to the head definitely compromised him more.

If you watch closely,
you can see in the ref's eyes...

I dont blame him for playing it. Anthony Smith should have done the same thing for business reasons and money reasons. But Smith is too honest and honorable for his own good.

What many of you fail to understand is how easy it is to accumulate brain damage. Shit, you develop sustained damage even from activities like jet skiing and skateboarding, with those little hops and jumps. Now compare that to the monstrous knee aljo received.
