Surprising people found it so hard to accept prime Conor was only a Diaz tier LW, maybe lower

But that wasn't "motivated" Conor... But Conor fought a man 3 times his size..... But Conor moved up a weight class......But Conor this Conor that.... Conor fans always come up with excuses besides that he got beat by the better man

How dare you TS, Nate has made multiple runs at lightweight, he was never gifted easy fights either. Nate would’ve won a belt if he had a favourable matchup too. Imo Conor’s LW accomplishments pale in comparison.

Nate's nothing more than a Gatekeeper.

Conor's a much better fighter in every aspect, it just happens that Nate matches up well with him, just like Prime Tibau was a tough fight for Khabib, despite the latter being leagues above

What's the criteria for gatekeeper?

He did fight himself up to a title shot against Benson. Is a title contender a gatekeeper?

Nate Diaz is not a better fighter than Conor. Stylistically he's just an awful match-up for him, and I'm saying this as someone who doesn't like either of them.

Well that was almost a decade ago and he was thoroughly dominated

Nate's been at most a gatekeeper for good part of the last decade, he loses whenever he faces someone who is at championship level, Benson, RDA, Masvidal etc. His best win before facing Conor was a 29-28 UD against Michael Johnson.

He can still hang with some top 15 guys who are good matchups, but he is unable to have a winning streak due to his limited skillset. The playbook to beat him has been out there for years

Conor's whole FW legacy is beating extremely weight-drained Poirier, out of shape hunting season Mendes who destroyed Connie for a round until gassing, and lucky punch on emotional Jose Aldo. No legitimate wins at 155 or 170.

Wow.. you're basically RIGHT!

Emotional Aldo, that's correct.

A title contender is clearly not a gatekeeper, so people like him are just clueless. A gatekeeper has historically referred to fighters who fall short of title contention but still remain ranked and somewhat relevant.

Conor definitely is a Diaz-tier lightweight, as in they are a tough matchup for some top lightweights but they have tons of tough matchups themselves. Diaz fought for the title after a worthy run, Conor was gifted a title shot and won it. Nate Diaz would've chewed Eddie Alvarez up too though.

A lot of people match up poor for Conor it seems as he's always getting his ass kicked after he got figured out.

I guess it's easy to match up against someone who becomes a completely harmless bullseye like Conor does after one and a half rounds.

You obsiously wasn't around when Nate whopped Cowboy and Miller. He was one of the best LW's on the roster.

Conors a bit of a conundrum. He’s looked GOATish at times. And very average at others.

It's no mystery.

He's a great fighter for the first 1.5 rounds, then he falls to pieces and fights like a bum.

So after people figured this out, they began to exploit it, thus they are finding different ways to wear him down in those opening minutes.

Nate wore Conor down with his chin, Khabib did with wrestling, grappling, and Dustin did with wrestling and leg kicks.

Floyd let Conor punch his gloves for several rounds but that's a different sport that is less taxing on cardio because wrestling is the most tiring aspect of MMA.

Cardio is an important aspect for any fighter. Nate-above average. Conor- below average.

Nate Diaz is total garbage and he made Conor quit and lost a razor close decision in the rematch.

Conor showed his level from that moment.

His fights with Nate are the truest assessment we have of where his skills are at. Lost once, then barely won a decision that was more like a draw. He was never truly elite.

Conor knew this, and did his best to win favorable matchups, or get handed undeserved shots against the actual elite.

Conor should not be ranked anything higher than 5, but he's more around the 6-8 area of the top 10.

Yeah, he has the ability to win a good matchup here and there, but he would never be consistent against top competition.

It's not like Diaz didn't beat that ass in Conor's absolute prime

Prime Peak Conor was only Anorexic Bulimic Conor at 145. He's never shown anything special at 155. At 145 he was a monster and ran through the division. At least he made a boatload of money.
