A smart gambler never places a bet he can't afford to lose. UFC can afford to see Conor lose, even in embarrassing fashion, but they can't afford to be seen fixing fights. Handpicking a slow starter makes sense. Fixing for Conor to win simply isn't a smart business-decision.
