Throwback: Matt Serra coming out to "gonna fly now" before it became a generic entrance song

Man, the UFC doesn't feel the same these days and I'm not talking about the lack of crowd.

Contender Serra was the GOAT... once he won that title his hunger went away

Prime JDS always reminds me of this song.

Serra is underrated. If he stayed in shape and fought at his true weight class and trained full time he could have been an all time great.

Choosing to come out to a fight to the theme song of the most famous fighting movie of all time doesn’t exactly make you a pioneer you in terms of musical choices. Serra is cool though.

Oh and i still think he got robbed vs Hughes. Such a shame because it was a huge fight.

I thought he beat Hughes too..... but I cant call it a robbery with a straight face.

An unforgettable moment for me in sports history isnt the fact that Matt pulled biggest mma upset but the look on George's face. " A deer in headlights " is what I remember- such a spot on and appropriate idiom.

Matt Serra is the original manlet. but gotta respect him for fighting up weight classes and KTFO GSP.

Yet no one thought of it before Serra.

War Serra and all - but Gonna Fly Now has been generic for easily 30 years at all levels of youth wrestling

serra is ok,not so much his brother who was disqualified in the middle of the fight because he didnt want to fight no more

At first I thought it was pretty cringe, but then I realized he's the one true Rocky of MMA. So good on him.

I always thought that Redemption would work better as a walkout song.

Conti Bless
