I'd rather see Covington/Wonderboy than Covington/Masvidal

I think Wonderboy is a bad style matchup for Covington. Let Mas do his bmf thing or whatever. The more competitive bout and more appealing bout for me as a fight fan is Covington/Wonderboy.

I still think Mas is a legit contender, but if he's more into other stuff then go ahead.

The phrase match up was built for a fight like Colby vs Wonderboy, cause they're both equally bad style match ups for each other. They match up perfectly.

And I agree, it's more intriguing, more relevant fight in terms of the rankings and titles. Mas isn't beating anyone in the TOP 15, so it's just a grudge dump for Colby. Would still be fun, though.

How is Thompsons style a difficult match up for Colby? Thompson has no ground game and needs as much space as possible to land strikes. Colby is known to pressure and push the pace on opponents with high output, wrestling, and just being in your face all the time. That's an easy fight for Colby stylistically, not the other way around. Don't understand most of you sherbros most days damn. There's no literally no argument for how Thompson will have a style advantage, people just can't get the hate for Colby out of their heads and its embarassing by now tbh.

That would be a good fight. Street Judas Journeyman George doesn't want to fight, so cut his ass. Make Colby vs Wonderboy

Wonderboy has very elusive footwork and one of the best TDD records at WW. Rory McDonald tried to corner him and take him down repeatedly but it got nowhere and it ended up with WB picking him apart. Whether WB is good enough to stop Colby's pressure and offensive wrestling is another story ofc. The point is they are polar opposites so this fight is going to be one sided one way or the other, that's what get people interested I'm guessing.

I think Thompson's ground game is underrated. How many times has he been submitted or L&P'd to decision?

I agree let Wonderboy fight Colby then the winner gets a tittle shot after Usman vs Burns

I really want to see this fight happen, too. They have styles that seem one-dimensional but are infuriatingly hard to beat in practice- and both seem tailor-made to beat the other. I tend to think Colby manages to impose his will and gets the takedowns he needs. However, WB's td is great, and Colby's swarmy, pressure-based kickboxing will not present any real problems for WB's elegant movement and combinations. Really hope they make the fight

tbf Rory isnt a high level wrestler and this was during his decline after his Robbie Lawler fight

I'm not a fan of Colby but his high pressure wrestling base approach is far more likely to win than a striker. There's just going to be way too many opportunities for them to clash and get close enough to wear Colby can grab him or shot into him.

It'd be cool to see WB win though, he's a good person

I agree with you and I'd lean Colby too if they ever fight. The wrestler wins more often than not. "Often" doesn't mean "always" though.

Fuck the colby masvidal fight. It's taking too long. Wb vs colby for me please. Jorge can go get 50-45ed by leon.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against the idea but if you think Masvidal will turn around and fight Leon should he ultimately decide to turn down the Colby fight you're high as fuck or drunk off your ass.

if he really wanted to fight colby we would've had a date by now. leon poses less of a threat than colby does to masvidal's style. his bitch ass sucka punch sells itself. the colby fight is high risk high reward. leon fight is slightly less risk, high reward.

Almost convinced me but lost me with the Leon as high reward type, Colby's certainly a higher risk as well as a bigger reward sure but Masvidal wouldn't get anywhere near the same payday to fight Leon as he would Colby even with the out of cage punch up, he'd be slightly less but still a significant risk and significantly less of a reward. Given how Leon's viewed in the UFC I'm not even sure beating him would give Masvidal another title shot.
