he is already considered lightweight GOAT. the only 2 fights that would make sense would be Conor/Poirier winner or Carlos Oliveira

the first fight is not needed, and the latter does nothing for his legacy

he lives a frugal life and is already set financially for life, and the weight cut is brutal on him

GSP is a different story, his old man wanted the fight, and even if he lost to GSP it would not ruin his legacy as much as losing to say Poirier or Carlos would

I think he vacated the belt so he'll be free to fight GSP in 2021, one last fight that he's always wanted against an ATG to make it 30-0 then ride off into the sunset.

Nah i want to see it, but i view it differently. Khabib would win, thats almost assured imo, gsp as u said is way past prime, and even in his prime he got put on his back by koscheck, so im pretty sure khabib could - it would be interesting. Due to non prime gsp tho, it doesnt mean much, youre right. It would just be very very cool to see it, the mountain of respect we would witness on both sides, its what martial arts is all about.

Who cares? GSP is from a past era, he doesn't fight anymore.
Khabib will come back, obviously, when he wants a big payday.
If he fights GSP and beats him it'll mean nothing. He'll beat an older fighter who doesn't fight anymore.
It's like younger fighters saying 'oh i beat Anderson Silva, or i beat Cro Cop.' So what, you beat them when they were past their primes, it doesn't mean much at all. May look good in the record books, but that's about it.

When it comes to Khabib, there may be more genius at work there than I have the ability to appreciate, but I always had the feeling that when he was fighting skilled strikers, he was dodging bullets. It seemed like he was always just barely avoiding catastrophe before he would drag the fight into his world. It would be a shame if he came back and marred his sterling legacy. As much as I'd love to see him fight again, his legacy pretty much can't be improved upon...unless he went up a weight class and that may not be worth the risk.

If he were to come back it makes more sense that he does it for a move to WW if he wants a new challenge (he'd of course get a title shot right away if he wanted). GSP is old and not fighting anymore. Khabib at WW would be interesting since that weight class has always been better at wrestling than LW. Khabib walks around at a similar weight to GSP so I don't think he'd have any big size issues at WW.

Anything other than GSP or Tony doesn't interest me at all. Even on a 2 fight losing skid, I still would want to see Khabib/Tony purely for the stylistic match up.
