What makes izzy supporters so confident he'd beat jon jones?

Izzy stans. Ion want smoke with anyone. Just curious. What is it about izzy that makes you guys think he'd beat, even knock jones out? I question this
  • because jones is too smart to get costa'd
  • Wrestling. Izzy has whittaker level defensive wrestling. But jones... And that top control is scarier than rockhold.
  • Chin. Santos, reyes and glover couldn't knock jones out but izzy can?
  • Cardio is comparable. Jones isn't gassing
  • Clinch, izzy is amazing in the clinch. So is jones. Who's also bigger, stronger, could do him like he did machida (slim chance but still)
Seriously guys is there something I'm not seeing? Please let me know. Also i don't think jones is declining that pronouncedly. I think reyes is just a tough out. Also jones getting old would devalue the win to an extent if they did fight. Please share your observations. I obviously isly wanna see the fight. It'd be surreal seeing them in the same octagon. That kind of shit doesn't happen often, two legends (legend and legend in the making) in the same octagon, in their primes.

But what happens? Does he stuff all his take downs? Does he find a way around the reach disadvantage and box jones up? Does he fire body kicks at will without opening himself up for takedowns? Does he blow him away with an elbow like masvidal did to that caesar guy if jones tries to clinch? Does jones just stand there and get boxed up and do nothing? Does he gas himself panic wrestling the whole time?

He doesn't need to fire body kicks. He can just kick them legs as a good leg kick is very hard to catch.

Also, speed kills. Hard to take down what you can't catch. TDD isn't just sprawls. It's also the ability to not be there for the takedown. I think Izzy can do this while pick slow Jones apart.

Avoid the takedown for five whole rounds? That's taxing physically and mentally. You don't think he'll be a bit compromised worrying about the td threat like conor was against khabib?
 
I actually think Jones beats him.

Izzy beats the Jones that fought Dom. However, when Jones get that sociopath urge to prove he’s better than someone, he beats tf out of them.

I actually think Jones will go in there and try to kill him lmao

Edit: fuck I just realised I didn’t answer your question. I think Izzy has the skills to beat Jon. His takedowns aren’t what they used to be, apparently this happens as you get older/ more weathered and your joints don’t move the same. Izzy’s striking is on another level too.
 
The only fighter I'm confident in picking to beat Jones is Ngannou. Everyone else I'd favor Jones.

90% of Adesanya fans think his quips are cool and witty. Wouldn't put much stock in their opinion
 
Jon is simply too big for Izzy. I dont think Izzy has enough power to earn Jon's respect and keep Jon away.

Another factor is one of Izzy's main tactics is to beat up his opponents legs. For years I have seen sherbros and other people ask what if someone kicks his skinny legs? The reason very few have is Jon's reach. Leg kicking a man with 84 inch reach is a recipe for disaster.

I see jon walking Izzy down, countering his leg kicks with punches and eventually getting a finish from the clinch against the cage.

Nah. I'd accept this if you actually broke down what izzy would do, not some conspiracy that hasn't been proven yet. We don't know whether "clean jones" is a thing. Besides steroids didn't teach him to throw that head kick on dc at 214.

I see something similar. Also, i just don't see this "you can't takedown what you can't catch" theory. Is izzy going to avoid getting clinched up for 25 minutes? Reyes got up. That's credit to reyes and not a knock on jon. Jon takes everyone down,
WHEN HE COMMITS to it. He didn't bother with santos. Fuck knows why. Plus striking and being ready for said takedown is taxing mentally and physically. I don't see it just don't. And i agree with the size thing too. I just... If this was a kickboxing match, or if jones was just a striker or a striker-mma fighter second (like gus) then yes. But this is not the case. This is almost like making yan fight volk.
 
Tough call. You can make a lot of the same arguments for Costa that you make for Jones, and we know how that one turned out...I would still go with Jones, but Izzy is a proven sniper and would stand a good chance.

Too bad it won't happen. To me this is one of the most interesting MMA fights that could be made today.
 
what isnt mentioned enough when shit talking jones is how fucking good reyes and santos are. people act like jones is completely done cuz he had close fights with two beasts. i think all 3 of them beat izzy if given the chance
