I won't lie. I'm new to this sport. In many ways I'm still casual as shit. There's still a ton I do not understand. It was only like two years ago that I became a fully-fledged MMA fan. For years I maintained a vague interest and would watch highlight reel compilations from time to time, but nothing that could be considered following the sport. However, I was still following UFC's facebook page. One day they made Arlovski vs Browne a free fight, and out of curiosity I watched it.

I have not been the same since watching that fight. What a war. Total slugfest. Certainly not the most technical fight, but that battle had me entranced. Goldberg and Rogan lost their minds, and I realized no sport had ever made me that excited before. I couldn't deny it anymore. Before then I was pretty intimidated, cause I'm one of the last people someone would expect to be an MMA fan. Ever since then I've been jumping into the fandom headfirst. Now I'm on this hellscape forum all the fucking time, for better or for worse. Pretty much happened all at once.

And that's my lame late night story.

It all starts somewhere my friend!
Fun fight!

It was a great fight. Arlovski made Travis Browne his bitch.

Coincidentally I was also in Vegas that night and saw Andrei at XS Nightclub. He was there with his team and most of them wore Adidas track suits in the club, just as you expect they would. Andrei was dressed stylishly though. I congratulated him and asked for a quick picture (it turned out blurry though), and he was kind enough to oblige. He did seem a bit out of it at that time and I later realized after watching his war with Browne that Andrei was probably still concussed from the fight.

I was watching UFC & PRIDE reruns on my grandma’s illegal cable back in 2002 you filthy n00b

jk that was a great fight. UFC 79 Chuck vs Wanderlei was what solidified me as a hardcore fan. Rarely missed seeing a UFC PPV main event live ever since

jeez was that really 5 years ago already. also nothing wrong with being a "casual". only the biggest geeks care about that type of shit
Yeah and all the biggest fucking geeks are right here lmao.

Fantastic fight. Arlovski literally bitch slapped Travis Rousey all over the octagon. Andrei got dropped once though.

Yeah that was a barnburner alright. I saw AA vs Barnett live in Hamburg. That was quite a back and forth battle as well

Damn. Seems like yesterday, honestly. Would that make you a FOX n00b? Man, how time flies, lol.

And that's my lame late night story.

If you haven't seen many of 'greatest fights of all time' from before that, here's a few suggestions that are on YouTube -

Shogun VS Henderson (You're welcome)

Sanchez VS Melendez

Griffin VS Bonnar (This is the fight that mainstream audiences in North America first took note of MMA) and it REALLY shows how the sport has advanced in 15 years. This is a slugfest that was 100% heart.

And since you like HW fights that end in the 1st round, I love watching Lesnar being destroyed by Cain Velasquez in the 1st round. It shows that size, reach, and strength are minor attributes compared to endurance, precision, and technique.

If you have fightpass, I could hook you up with another 20 suggestions.
