Sorry guys, I’ve been out for a bit and only time to check-in occasionally.

When Yoel got cut, all the talk was many other high profile fighters were going to a part of these 60 who were going to be cut by End of Year.

Maybe I missed it somewhere along the way, but is there a list with all these names? It’s been kind of anti-climatic heading into the last day of the year and no other big names out.

Here is the list so far. We got a ways to to reach 60

Ow, I came to make you shake it,
Till you break it,
Caress your body until you’re naked,
Bend you over, grab your shoulder,
Slip my Peter inside ya folder,
Make you sweat-a
Get you wet-a
Pump it faster to make it better,
Dim the lights then lock the room,
Cos now it’s time for me to hit that boom!

I don’t think it was 60 at once. They just cut a bunch of guys in December and likely plan to continue to do so. I’m assuming 60 was their estimate of the number of fighters they plan to release in the near future

Of course it wasn’t 60 at once. But the message was that around 60 would be cut by end of year.

Today is end of year and haven’t gotten close to 60.

Maybe it was a tactical move by Dana.

1. Puts pressure on fighters
2. If it ended up being untrue he could turn it into a positive "we managed to keep more fighters than we expected"
3. Other leagues now figure there's a chance they could sign some good free agents, so they might wait with offering fat paychecks when hiring new prospects, allowing the UFC to get prospects cheaper

Dana has exaggerated in the past
In 2013 he cut Fitch and said "there's a 100 more guys that are gonna go"

timestamp 0:17

Obviously it was a deliberate exaggeration, but still. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't recall that many guys being cut around that time

EDIT: I might have been partially wrong. They cut Okami and Shields in 2013 too.
One tweet said "16 fighters got cut from the UFC today" in feb 20 2013

It's being kept a secret because of HIPPA. You see the fighters werent' cut in the sense of being released from their contracts. They were cut in the sense of receiving life changing plastic surgery.

Pettis probly could have re-signed. he was a free agent
True, technically he wasn't cut.
But a wild guess is that in some cases they are implicitly letting someone go by offering them a new contract with such a big pay cut that they kind of signal they're not really interested in keeping the fighter.

They counted each one of yoels abs as a cut.

So thats like 40 right there.
