You're missing a ton of context here. A huge part of the reason for many of the rules like no knees or kicks to a grounded opponent, or no 12-6 elbows is because at the time, it was extremely difficult to host and regulate MMA bouts. In many places it was illegal, and it was even referred to as human cock fighting. It was looked down on and considered barbaric / trashy. Many of those rules were put in place by necessity (in order to be regulated by athletic comissions ), and helped MMA gain acceptance by a mainstream audience. You should be kissing his feet. Although I don't agree with many of the rules, and agree that there should be some changes, these rules are in large part responsible for the amazing and entertaining sport we have today.
