He's just sitting around doing nothing. That doesn't get you title shots.

By the time his title shot comes around, several guys will be on recent hot win streaks. Ngannou won't have won a fight in over a year.

We've all seen this happen before. Guy gets promised a title shot. Guy sits out and doesn't do anything for a long time. Some hot shot comes along and wins a few impressive fights. Young guys name is hotter in the fans' minds at that time. Guy that sat out gets pushed aside and young guy gets the title shot. That young guy is going to be Ciryl Gane.

Ngannou almost cleaned out the entire division in less than 2 minutes, WTF are you talking about ?

Franny will get another shot and make the most of it. Jon Jones, for awhile, was the fighter who'd be favored over anyone at any division. Ngannou is now that figure . I bring this up cause it kind of makes him getting shot of a rhetorical nature. It's just a matter of it getting announced.

Ngannou is getting a shot in probably March.
No, Jones is getting the title shot in March. It could be Jones or Ngannou, but the UFC is saying in public that it's Ngannou, so it's gonna be Jones. They're probably using Ngannou to negotiate Jones' salary + ppv bonus down. If you watch the UFC for a long time, you know this. Whatever they're doing in public in a toss up situation like this, they're doing the other side behind the scenes and using the public perception and some dumb fighter that's too dumb to know what's going on to manipulate the situation in their financial favor.

So by the time the next guy, Gane or Ngannou, is up for the title shot, Ngannou won't have even won a fight in over a year. Meanwhile, Gane will be on a 6 fight UFC win streak with an undefeated MMA record.

The difference is if Dana likes you (or at least doesn’t dislike you) you’re popular with the fans and you ko people you’re getting a shot. Ngannou is getting a shot.

But if you’re inactive, win by decisions & tweak Dana somehow you’re probably not getting a shot unless you step up on short notice.

If Stipe retains the HW belt and retires Ngannou and Jones will fight for the vacant title.

If Stipe retains the HW belt versus Francis and loses the belt to Jon Jones then Francis will be Jones opponent for his first title defense.

If Stipe retains the HW belt versus Francis and Jones, the UFC will simply not renew his contract/cut him, and Jones vs Ngannou will be for the vacant belt.

Stipe may have said in the immediate aftermath of his victory over Cormier he was interested in fighting Jones, but given his injury history is it really in his best interest to fight a guy who feels eye pokes are instinctual and has stated he does so on purpose ?

Stipe is never fighting Jones.

The UFC does not want Stipe to reman champion, he is the greatest heavyweight of all time, but he also is bad for business.

Is it possible that there will be 3 title fights in March because it s rumored that Jan will fight Izzy,Nunes is fighting Anderson and Stipe is fighting Ngannou
There are supposedly 2 PPVs in March. izzy v Jan/Nunes v Anderson on the 6th. Sounds like Stipe vs Ngannou will be late March. I'm hoping they add Yan v Sterling.

Ngannou vs. Lewis was a stinker.
