What's the idea behind so many fighters taking short notice fights right now?

Initially I thought it was due to covid and the UFC not being able to utilize all fighters depending on the laws of where they are residing. But now currently, almost all countries are semi-open, at least enough to where people can train and travel for fights again. So why are so many guys still taking short notice fights? Is the ufc just pressuring people into taking short notice fights, using economic uncertainty as leverage? Or have fighters just realized that they can make more money by having more fights since they are already wearing their bodies down in training camp anyways?

Less fighters to rely on, same amount of shows.

I think I first noticed it with Cody Stamann in June then July.

Would you rather be paid twice a year or four time a year? Even if they lose all those extras fights, they still make more.

Semi open?? In most of Europe, the lockdown is reinstated and pretty tight :(

Is still covid season and when people catch it they need replacements

Well I'm just assuming it's open enough, because I've seen several European fighters competing within the last couple of months when initially they weren't allowed to

Probably most sponsors pulled sponsorship budgets

Yeah, but restrictions are bad since a few weeks. I think a lot of fighters are in the US allready, but especially the UK is doing bad right now. Most countries stopped all travel to and from the UK, so I am concerned for Edwards v Khamzat

Still Covid mostly. There are a lot of fighters who haven't fought yet so they are having to pull from a smaller bunch as well as fights aren't scheduled miles in advanced right now. If you ask me though these short notice fights are better. Screw scheduling a fight 6 months out for it to inevitably fall apart. Get them in there ASAP.

We just had a bunch of British people travel out here to texas for the canelo-Smith fight

Hope they can come back home. A guy I know drives a truck and got stuck after goverments of European countries shut all travels down. There is a mutated string of Covid that spread quite rapidly.

There have been a record amount of pull outs. People saw it as an opportunity to make money
