Wonderboy closed as an underdog against both Luque and Neal

Hype, and people wanting to see two NEW and exciting fighters climb the rankings...the only way him being the underdog is justified.

Same thing happened to Whittaker when he fought Jared. People wanted to see some new blood break into the Elite, and all were exciting fighters with a good amount of finishes heading into their respective fights.

Let's not get carried away

The odds for Werdum vs Gus was
Open: Werdum +275 Gus -360
Close: Werdum +260 Gus -335

We also saw how that fight played out.

I did think that Neals hands would give him probs.

I was pleasantly surprised to see WB light him up even in most of the close range exchanges.

Except there were very legitimate reasons as to why Gus was favored

Can't think of any for WB being plus money against those two

BecauseI think people are afraid that he gets his lights put out with 1 big shot. Plus he’s getting older. It’s been a year. Kudos tho. I like the cut of your jib.

No there wasn't. Gus had just gotten subbed by Anthony Smith. Werdum lost a competitive fight to Oleinik who is a grappling stud himself and that's the only reason he has success against Werdum. To think Werdum wasn't going to eat him alive on the ground was foolish. That was the easiest money ever.

Neal is solid top 15 material but he was being hyped as the future champ which seems kinda ridiculous atm.

There's also been some justifiable speculation about WB's chin and age recently, but yeah seems really disrespectful not to favor him vs other strikers.

Post the betslip if it was so easy

Werdum looked totally washed up and chinny against Oleynik but looked in better shape vs Gus at the weigh-ins

Who thinks that? He's been finished once his entire career.

He's eaten monster shots from some very heavy hitters.

He probably has the best chin at 170.

I’m not digging up the threads. Hell there’s plenty to go around now if you want to search talking about him getting dropped by pettis and Woodley bouncing his head off the canvas multiple times. But if you don’t think people think he is suspect to a shot as he ages and after he’s been knocked out I don’t know what to tell you.

I think Usman has a better chin

Condit is past his prime but still difficult to hurt

How does Usman have a better chin exactly? He only stands and strikes with guys that pose no threat like Covington. He took down Masvidal constantly as well as anyone else that could have posed a threat standing. Hard to demonstrate a good chin if your opponents are on their backs.

Wonderboy stands and strikes with everyone.

Usman took hard shots from Masvidal that landed on his chin and temple

Wonderboy has better defense than Usman so not as much gets through

Woodley clocked Usman with a few too

Woodley couldn't finish him and that was back when everyone on here thought Woodley was some kind of KO machine.

Wonderboy got dropped but got back up. Everyone thinks Nick Diaz has one of the best chins at 170 but he got dropped by Daley...

And Masvidal spent what 80% of the fight on his back?
