Powerful striking, explosive power. A very decent and powerful grappling game except he comes with much more variety to his hands and feet. Much less defensive. He seems like what Tyron would be if he tried to fix his weaknesses.
If he is indeed Tyron 2.0 I expect him to beat wonderboy.

No, they are not much alike at all.

Neals best weapon is a headkick from what I’ve seen. And he’s known for impressive cardio despite his power. I don’t believe he has wrestling credentials but I could be wrong

T-wood only throw his overhand right and his stance is a lot wider than Neal. While Geoff has that short-high stance. And his boxing game is a lot more varied than Woodley.

If anything Neal the complete opposite because:

-His base is striking
-He’s aggressive and pushes a high pace
-He’s got cardio for days
-His footwork and movement are a big part of his game
-He doesn’t mind brawling

I don't think so. They have way different styles and attitude. I hope he wins this weekend. I think the future is promising for him and he could be one of the top guys in the division

That’s a very simple minded comparison. Other than the fact that they’re both black and hit hard they have absolutely NOTHING in common. Let alone comparing Neal to Woodley who was far more accomplished at that point in his career.

Neal is a basic sprawl and brawler. Tyron at his best was an elite wrestle-boxer. He was an All American on a stacked Mizzou team and took down just about any opponent he wanted in his prime which opened up his striking.

Put some respect on Tyrons name goofballs.

Woodley is the better wrestler, definitely better at takedowns, and prime Woodley is probably better overall than Geoff will ever be.
However Geoff is tenacious has much better striking and should have a longer career in the top 5 or 10 than Tyron overall.

If they fight next year Geoff would be a clear favourite, obviously.

No, because Neal is actually good at fighting.

Wonderboy still beats him though

Breaking: guy who can't fight held a UFC title in the modern era for several years.

Why are we following this sport again?

On topic, this comparison is so nonsensical that it might as well be a troll thread.

Never thought about it but yes they are virtually identical fighters, similar to Wonderboy and Mike Perry.

Those gifs show Woodley taking down Condit, who gets taken down by everybody, and catching a kick from Wonderboy, who's a kickboxer not a wrestler.
I feel like we haven't seen offensive wrestling from Woodley in a while. And even his defensive wrestling has started to leave him against high-level opponents. Woodley's never won a fight in which he got taken down.

Your basically saying he is black man with punching power 2.0, but na, Wonderboy will treat him differently since he wont have to worry about getting taken down.

What I said was
"He seems like what Tyron would be if he tried to fix his weaknesses."
Everything you listed here is a Tyron Woodley weakness, which Neal has fixed.

I get you man, Woodley has underutilized his wrestling but he’s phenomenal when he’s on offense and that’s a HIGH level finish by Woodley on Wonderboy: That’s putting the leg on the shelf, running the pipe single finish.

It’s very complex, everything from how high you elevate the leg and using his arm (while shielding his face) to steer Wonderboy requires precision and countless reps. How many people had taken down Wonderboy prior to that? He was a puzzle.

This is the difference between a high level wrestler and an amateur pretender.

I mean, I can kinda see it? Still a bit of a stretch.

If Tyron fixed his weaknesses, he'd be much more similar to a prime Rashad Evans, but with a better submission game. I don't know what happened that caused T-Wood to fall off so badly. My best guess is he just stopped taking fighting seriously after he beat Till. Maybe he got too distracted with ventures outside the UFC, or maybe he just bought too much into his own hype. Either way, it's been tough to watch.

As for Geoff Neal, I think his match with Wonderboy is a straight pick'em. He has a lot of potential, but Wonderboy is the best fighter he's ever fought by leagues. Ultimately, I think it comes down to how much Thompson has fallen off due to age and mileage.
