Rogan was pretty harsh on him, saying he shouldn’t even be in the UFC. I could see why Hooper is quite pissed, but Rogan isn’t really wrong, Chase could be really good if he worked on some things and came back in 2023.
He should pay attention to the bear jew because he's kind of like him in a lot of aspectsYeah... I think he needs to worry less about getting "credit" from Joe Hogan and worry more about shoring up his striking. Wasted energy. Shit like that shouldn't bother him. He got the W.
EDIT: in fairness to him he's a young lad, while shit like that shouldn't bother him perhaps it's a sign of his immaturity. He'll grow out of it hopefully.
I've seen Chase Hooper's career before if he keeps fighting and doesn't take time off to improve his striking: Stefan Struve. He'll get KOd like 10 times by the time he's 25-27. He'll still be "young" but broken, and people will already be calling for his retirement so he doesn't take even more CTE. If Struve took 1-2 years off to learn how to use his reach.. he could have been a champ instead of a journeyman. Same for Hooper. They came to the UFC too early. They needed time to improve on the regional circuits.I don't buy the talk of him not belong in the UFC or that he needs to take some extended time off.
He is now 10-1 overall and 2-1 in the UFC with two stoppage wins. He is clearly proficient on the ground and has shown the ability to remain calm under pressure, make adjustments mid-fight, and overcome adversity. I would say he belongs.
I don't think he needs to take six months or a year off. What he needs is to be allowed to continue to develop as a fighter without having unrealistic expectations put on him. It is very premature to already be assessing his chances at going anywhere in the division when he is barely 21 and clearly going to evolve a great deal both physically and with his skill set in the coming years. The UFC should just bring him along slowly with appropriate matchmaking and not rush him.
As for his posts...well, he might be only 21, but that was a relatively mature and level-headed series of posts in comparison to the bullshit that many of his UFC peers post on their social media lol.
