Why was Kevin Holland’s call out basically ignored at the press conference?

I mean, if anything that’s the exact guy Khamzat should be fighting in “pecking order”. Dana should have jumped all over that call out. Am I missing something or did Dana go radio silent on that? Because they were bragging about anyone/ anytime Khamzat, but now someone wanted to fight him on his original fight date and no one is saying anything.

The UFC is going to groom Chimaev as a WW contender. They don't need to risk having a guy like that beat the breaks off him at MW and deminish his value at WW. They sure as hell don't want to do it on a weeks notice when he has a fight booked. It's genuinely not worth mentioning. Holland should have been asking for a contender fight after that performance.

It makes too much sense for Dana. Theyd rather limit Khamzat to 3 fights a year and feed him to the most boring guy in the top 10.

The reason Dana didn't want to discuss it is obvious. Khamzat will get a title shot if he beats Edwards. It would be dumb to risk that just because of a call out.

But the actual OP question is still interesting. Are MMA journalists inhibited from asking "rock the boat" type questions?

They are both on the way up. If you are businessman you dont put 2 potential future stars to fight each other because one would derail the other.
Instead you match both of them with ranked senior fighters, that have high pay. That way if the new guy wins its WIN WIN for the ufc.
HENCE Leon Edwards vs Chimaev, and Souza vs Holland.

They should continue to build chimzat and Holland separately and then further down the line make them fight if necessary.

Chimzat vs. Leon

Holland vs someone a rank or two above jacare now.

Keep building em

I love the title of this video...."Khamzat will fight anyone who raises their hand"
Magny raised his hand, now Holland too. Interesting how Khamzat is harder to find than Elvis and Dana has nothing to say now.

cause khamzat is already scheduled to fight edwards. who is a far more dangerous fight, than holland. khamzat would murder him on the ground...beating an ancient, way past his prime jacare, means very little.

Yeah, lets add stains on guys' records that Dana prefers become champ more than anybody else in their division.
Think from a promoter's marketing perspective. I know you still think what you said makes sense in terms of legacy and in terms fun fight, but you are thinking like a fight fan. I'd love to see it too, but sadly it's a horrible match to make for business right now in this stage of either man's career.

People take this call out seriously lol? Khamzat is in a #1 contenders match in a few weeks. Why in the heck would he even consider fighting Kevin Holland? It’s a meaningless match for him and he is in camp to fight the #3 ranked guy lol.

Lets see its pretty simple.

Chimaev is fighting Edwards Jan 20th

Next weeks card has a main event already

Why would you rush a main event between a MW/WW on a weeks notice when you already have a main event and Chimaev has a fight?

Doesn't want to derail Holland when they can put him in there against Till or Vettori which would set him up for a either a title shot or an eliminator. It would be a good fight but there's just so much more money in it if they both win a few more fights before facing each other. I would say Khamzat would be a -350 favorite though.

But beating him in that shut out violent matter means a lot.
