dude couldnt do shit from guard against Kevin Holland.........nearly died just trying to pass guard. just before this fight he got ragdolled on the mat by Jack Hermannson

this guy had one of the GOAT peaks in BJJ comp and used to be a terror on the mat back in like SF and his early UFC days but in the past years his ground game has been so washed up

It's nowhere near what it once was.

Jacare is technical but he definitely relied on his athleticism more than guys like Maia or Lovato in his prime. That's gone now, he's just not as explosive or quick to react anymore. The way he was trying to slowly pass guard leaving his head completely exposed was just bizarre. Not sure how rocked he was early on but he was making mistakes on the ground the entire time. You can't play top game like that when someone wants to punch your face in.

It looked declined when he fought Whittaker and Whittaker managed to get up from underneath him and then stop him

this.
I remember thinking he might have something because he had those explosive takedowns like GSP that most BJJ guys going into MMA don't. Unfortunately that doesn't last with age

Joe and DC acted like it was such a huge deal the KO someone from the bottom. Holland was in a position to get a full swing, he wasn’t on his back completely

It's bad. At least guys like Maia and Werdum, their bjj skills are still there, and they're older than Jacare. I think jacares BJJ was always a little overrated and can be neutralized

he's old, bro.

theres no mystery here.

You get punched and elbowed in the heads too many times and your Black Belt and Experience goes out the window.

Everyone's got a plan until they get punched in the face, and let's just say Jacare got punched....like a LOT.

He was out grappling Holland before the KO. He got sloppy and like an idiot gave him room to punch him. He looked like he was play wrestling his son

He's done. He's getting cut. JDS too. Aldo if he loses his next fight as well.

Maybe in MMA setting, but at pure bjj he was ahead of Werdum at their peak.

I agree. Jacare is 41 years old. Passed his prime. I see JDS and Jacare both getting released. JDS has 4 straight losses. Aldo if he loses his next fight, will also be 4 straight losses. All these 3 guys earn big show money, and can be replaced with cheaper and younger fighters. I am sure other promotions will pick them up.
