Media Throwback: That time Cub Swanson knocked out Charles Oliveira at UFC 152

Cub is the fuckin man!! His run at featherweight during that time was insane and he definitely should have got another shot at aldo. He crushed a bunch of good fighters back to back to back. Still my favorite fighter ftw

Agree. I think he got it back then but Aldo was injured. Lost it when he fought and lost to Frankie.

i just remember thinking he should have got it ahead of mendez 2 because he was on a 6 fight win streak and we’d just seen mendez fight for the title. I’m sure Mendez was the bigger name but i was pretty baffled by the lack of interest or urgency they had in Cub getting his shot. That highlight real unreal.

not sure tony has the power to do the same, but he might over power over time.

Cub back then was a fantastic striker. When cub fought doo ho choi, I knew he was done. He wasn't as sharp, or out his combinations together like he used to. Dont know what happened

man and fucking bs joe silva's cuck ass fucked him of that, and many other fighters who deserved a title shot. Fuck cerrone had to go on 8 fight win streak just to get another crack at Pettis, and don't even get me started about tony and rusty spoons cus ill get another card

Swanson was a beast till he was 34. Now we will see how Ferguson will do at nearly 37.
I think he will be as usual, getting hit way too much on the feet, but as a cardio machine he will still look ok till 38, but taking massive damage.

With his mental instability and getting hit that much over his career, we will hear from him in the newspaper even after his retirement :/

They had Frankie take Cub out so that Conor could have a free path to the title shot. What's worse is that Conor got the title shot by beating Cub's left overs (Poirier and Siver)

There is another thread on scoring and does it need changing. Your post made me realize another huge issue is the matchmaking. It really might need more revision than anything else. I guess I always knew it but it just kinda slides by, and fighters end up with their whole best years gone...fighting scrubs and winning and winning but never getting anywhere...it is like a big problem that we know is there but does not get recognized like it should.

People should shit all over the announcement of a fight...if there was an obviously better one to make...instead crickets (relatively speaking)...sux

Watch "Killer Cub" back in action tomorrow as he face Daniel Pineda in the UFC 256 featured prelim bout.

Oliveira improvements are gigantics. He had a Very poor striking game, Just relied on his submissions

Cub was one of my favorites back in his prime BUT

The more I watch that, the more is looks like Charles took a dive. The punch wasn’t very hard at all and he had a delayed reaction to it. Good thing Charles has improved mentally and physically since then.
