Was Moreno vs Askarov a draw. Moreno got his back taken in the first, okay...but he also rocked him soon as they were on the feet. You could argue Moreno won that round, but okay lets give that to Askarov. Second round Askarov gets a couple takedowns but has no control and Moreno gets up quickly. He pieces him up on the feet and rocks Askarov at the end of the round and gets finishes the round having him in a loose inverted triangle. Last round Moreno takes him down, ground and pound, gets the better of the stand up. Clear round for Moreno. The decision is a draw AND IT WAS IN MEXICO.

UFC brought along their shitty judges.

It was a draw because neither guy did enough to win? Or maybe they both did enough to win? Either way, it's a draw.

I love Draws, and it wasn't a draw... I feel so many fights should be draws that aren't, and then they plop this draw out.. I don't think it'll do much negatively for either career though thankfully, and hopefully/likely they'll cross paths again I reckon.

Out of curiosity, which Fights do you feel are draws?

I wouldn’t mind more 10-10 rounds.

What do you want to know, exactly?

Here are the judges decisions, and they're all over the place (and only 1 judge gave a 10-8)

http://www.mmadecisions.com/decision/10450/Brandon-Moreno-vs-Askar-Askarov

Here is the mmajunkie play by play, which agreed with you and the 30-27 judge

And here is the sherdog play-by-play, which has 3 commentators, none of whom agreed with the 3 judges.

Did that clear things up for you? You're welcome.

Too many, i'd maybe have even given last weekends Main Event a draw which I know no one would agree with at all. I've heard a lot of the arguments against Draws and I respect them, but I still want more Draws lol.

I think a draw could arguably be a fairer result in some of these off the top of my head, mostly more recently, i'm quite shit at remembering.

JJ vs Zhang(though I did edge it for Zhang on first watch, 2nd seemed a lot closer)
Waterson vs Hill
Kenney vs Wood
Frankie vs Pedro
Krause vs Giles
Till vs Whittaker
Till vs Wonderboy
Rua vs Nog(latest one)
Maybe even Izzy vs Yoel

I feel like there have been loads on the undercards and stuff that just escape me right now that are better shouts than some of these.

All fine examples. Sometimes a draw is better than apprehensively picking a winner just because.

I finally watched Zhang vs Joanna for the first time, and fuck me, that fight is the definition of a draw. At least if you score it as a whole.

Round-by-round, the only definitive rounds I really see are 2 (champ), 3 (challenger), and maybe 5 for Joanna for that big spinning back-fist at the end. But fuck me that was close. Every exchange they were landing on each other, doing damage, and never giving an inch.

Fucking great fight, and there truly was no loser. I think the champ should have kept her belt by default, but I don't think that match warranted anything other than a draw.

It's funny, with Bigfoot-Hunt I I remember scoring it for one of them clearly (Hunt I think), but was 100% okay with the draw.

I think so too, I often feel like it's forgotten about by many fans... I also dislike the way in the rules Draws are worded, in explaining how to judge/score them it says something like "These should rarely ever be given" , I feel if a draw is a draw it could be given for every fight in a night if needs be, never understood this.

Just want to say - amazing thread title. That got a QUICK click from me
Forgot the outcome of this fight and clicked on the thread thinking it was gonna be another sherdogger complaining about how nobody likes flyweights

Pleasantly surprised it wasn't lol
Gotta go watch Askarov - Moreno now

Bump.

Moreno was fucking Askarov up the whole fight?

How the hell was this a draw??
