Don't get me wrong, i know Demian Maia, Jacare and Werdum are masters in the craft of MMA jits, not disputing that at all.

But the fluidity with which he flows, the combination he throws, relentlessly switching from sub attempt to sub attempt, the way he scrambles his road out of bottom position is magnificient to watch.

To me, he's got the most efficient, functional, and adaptative jiu jitsu in all of mma today, and on top of that he's never in a boring grappling exchange. Demian Maia is great but not always exciting, but when Do Bronx hits the ground in his fight i'm always on the edge of my seat being like "when will the sub happen" and not "will it happen".

He's the best jiu jitsu artist in mma today, and i wish all bjj based fighters had this kind of game.

I have him catching Tony with a sub Round 3 in a crazy scramble, big respect to Tony btw but i hope Charles make it here.

His BJJ is beautiful to watch. He's so active from the bottom which you don't see a lot in MMA. Most guys just try to hold on to absorb little damage or try to stand-up/wrestle.

Watching his fight vs. Lee was amazing because Lee was on top, but didn't really land a single strike on him because he was constantly defending submissions

Oliveira might be more exciting when it comes to style but Maia is better in MMA jits when it comes to being effective. His style is more risky and has more holes in it.

I also think Olivera wins by submission. Tony might just be past his prime.

He's a lil wreckless and is just as likely to get submitted by Tony though. If it goes to the ground it's gonna be fun to watch.

That's the difference between a guy like Maia who is more conservative, but will never be submitted in MMA, and Oliviera who's very active but who can be submitted by slick jitz (Pettis, Miller, Lamas). He's very entertaining to watch though.

He leaves holes open to also take damage. He's amazing on the ground and very exciting. I think he beats Tony here. I think he's peaking at the right time and Tony is starting to go the other way. It should be a fun fight either way.

Also a big fan of Charles. Dude pulled off a Calf Slicer..

Was a thing of beauty..

I get that these guys train their lives in this, but to be aware of this positioning and to pull of a calf slicer is so next level. How he traps his left leg is my tear moment. I talked about that submission for years after seeing it. Dammit that was pretty

maia cannot be submitted in MMA.

if it was soccer, maia is a team that will win 2-0, and charles is a team that will win 6-2, with a lot of little heart attacks.

lol at thinking more than 5% of MMA fans have a remote understanding of ground fighting.

Maia isn’t even conservative, in my opinion. He has a goal and everyone he fights knows it. He gets you down.. takes your back.. chokes you out. I love it, personally.

Tony and Charles hitting the ground would be a treat for grappling lovers!

This, I actually think he's a bit overrated. He's amazing on the mat, have to be to get the most subs in UFC history while fighting in the deepest divisions. But like you said he has more holes in his game than some of the more traditional BJJ players who have deep competition experience.

CDF has criminally underrated BJJ, he's nowhere near as flashy with sub attempts but he has some neat tricks of his own on the mat.
