Since this, there has been many boxing guys made into stars who not only make better money, but sell ppvs. And yes debella sounds like an idiot as well.

There really hasn't been that many new boxing stars in the last decade. And I'm a big boxing fan. But Rogan was right in the fact that boxing likely peaked a few decades ago and the guys from the previous eras will always be the biggest stars. This was proven in the fact that the biggest selling boxing PPV of the last while was an exhibition between two 50 year-old stars from a previous era.

Regardless, Rogan was/is a UFC employee and was being paid to shill for them. If you listen to his podcast, you'd know he's a massive boxing fan too and appreciates it on its own as a separate sport from MMA. There doesn't have to be a debate between the two, but if we're talking popularity, it seems likely that MMA will continue increasing in popularity and boxing will continue decreasing as we move forward in the next few decades.

I mean Rogan isnt wrong technically, its not a dying breed but when I watch big boxing fights I almpst expect to see a shitty draw these days to build rematches. GGG/Canelo, Fury/Wilder etc.

Tyson/Jones and Floyd /Logan will do more PPV buys than any fight boxing can put together using their actual champs IMO.

Fury/AJ or Fury/Wilder 3 wouldnt do half of what Tyson did IMO.

Shit sells unfortunately and boxing knows it.

This was made in 2007. Now don't get it twisted, I'm no fan of Joe's(used to be, but in recent years he's lost me). But Joe said it, "Any superstars in Boxing that exist right now, are going to be the last superstars of Boxing". He wasn't too far off.

Fury/AJ would sell all over Europe as well as make a solid dent in North America. Bank on it.

Idk, i like boxing. But even boxing's top tier fights only do like 700-800k ppv buys tops (fury vs wilder 2). Now tyson vs jones was an exception, at 1.5 million buys. But that is an exhibition of course.

Honestly, when you look at the state of boxing overall now I'd say Rogan was slightly more on point here. From just the last 20 years names like Anderson Silva, GSP, Conor Mcgregor, Chuck and Tito, Randy and Ronda are as mentioned commonly as same amount of boxers from the last 50 years.

Ok well they can sell out big arenas on their name alone

Boxings a night out for most people aswell but then still its usually only one fighter whose a draw, there's still only a handful of boxers I'd consider real stars though in 2020. Im not saying the UFC has loads because they dont either but theres not that much difference between them both other than the purses.

I think people have just come to terms with the fact boxing is corrupt and we just get on with it.

I didnt say it wouldnt.

It wouldnt draw more than the Tyson fight last weekend though IMO.

I think it would bring in over a million buys easy, but at the end of the day we are both just guessing lol

In terms of just north American buys. It can't. But world wide there is a chance

Tyson is a global name. Tyson/Jones did 1.5m alone, not including the rest of the world who paid for it.

Im from the UK and I love him but Fury isnt THAT much of a draw over here and hasnt ever been, even now. AJ has a large fanbase, itd draw big in the UK but this is kinda my point, if we cant say with any certainty that debatably the biggest fight boxing could make, if we're not sure if it would surpass Tyson last weekend at 50 years old, what does that say about boxing?
