Despite showing improvement since their last fight, Dustin still has the tendency to lunge forward and spam hooks

For someone like Conor who hangs back and explode with a precise counterstrike, you couldn't ask for an easier opponent

Conor by TKO inside 2 rds

Hope I'm wrong

Conor should win but I'll be rooting for dp to sub him

Kind of is, yeah. Only gamble here is that Doostin's been active, has grown into being a LW and seems to defend himself and take shots better. He's miles above the version of Cowboy Conor steam rolled, so this fight will tell us a lot about where the Mac is at right now.

I still think I'm gonna pick Doostin though. For the lulz, at the very least, but also cause I simply refuse to believe that after all of these set backs and persistence he would blow such an enormous opportunity.

Not for nothing, the stats of the first fight don't exactly plaint a hopeless picture for Poirier.

Significant strikes:

Doostin: 10/19
Conor: 9/29

Doostin had him miss and kept returning fire. Even edged it out by a single strike. Didn't survive the first wave, but if he does in the rematch - we all know what Conor struggles with and how durable Poirier is these days.

Wanna see Conor beat him inside 2, but have a horrible feeling it'll go the full 5 and could be anyone's via decision.

Yes he over extends his hard shots even when tired. his jab to slow. And his uppercut is not gonna be effective since conor doesnt telegraph or overhand left much at all and fights with good posture..

Dustins to win means hel need to counter and not be very offensive.

Downside
Conor is hard to counter has alota pressure

Gaethje conor woulda ben better imo or tony conor.
Question is who will gass first or what round will. DP get finished.

Pretty much. Unless Dustin manages to make this a grappling battle, I don't see how he wins.

Dustin's head will clatter off the canvas.

Also, head clean off.

Plus: LETS RASSLE LETS RASSLE LETS RASSLE

Dustin is much more durable at 155 (see his fights against Eddie and Justin) and a much smarter and patient fighter (usually). Dustin can absolutely win this if he:
Doesn't try to exchange in the pocket with Conor early
Uses a jab and leg kicks to stay outside
Pushes Conor against the cage early

Everyone knows Conor's power is gone after 2 rounds, at which point Poirier can get more aggressive and drain Conor's cardio.

If it goes past the 2nd, Poirier can win it. But he has to fight smart early. If he gets reckless early, can definitely see him getting KO'd.

It's really sad but it's the truth. Dustin lunges forward with a poor chin and Conor being a counter striker, this a very good matchup for Conor.

Dustin's left hand defense was on point and comfortable. Ironically what did him in was the right hand clipping him. I feel like he can adjust that and keep his left defense and do fine if he doesn't get greedy and goes head first again, but history shows that, like his low iq guillotine attempt every single fight against more muscle hardy opponents, he will lunge forward with his chin dangling again.
