The UFC is mismanaging Khamzat's career

I don't get it. They have a hyped, exciting prospect who is talking about fighting every week. They should be trying to get him back fighting as soon as possible. Instead they put him on hold for 3 months to set up the Leon Edwards fight. Now that Leon has Covid they want to hold him out again until next year.

Meanwhile Magny, another guy who is highly active, has been calling him out. They could've had those guys fight in September. They can still have them fight in two weeks. It would take no effort to set that fight up. Why are they so against making it? If Khamzat beat Magny in dominant fashion he would be instant top 10 and he could fight anyone from there.
 
Hes become one of their more popular fighters and was just booked against the number 3 guy in the world even though he wasnt ranked until this announcement in a headliner.

6 months ago noone had heard of him.

I'd say theyre not doing too bad.

So let's have the most active fighter on the roster sit out for 5 months to face a guy who hasnt fought in a year and isn't reliable. Instead of taking advantage of his hype by letting him fight multiple times. Makes sense.

Leon didn't even want to fight the dude in the first place, they had to blackmail him into accepting it. Now he's getting fucked by Covid. Let's move on from this fiasco already.

UFC is the promoter, not the manager. There is a difference, tho less of one then in boxing. If Khamzat and his team really had an issue with waiting right now, I'm sure they could press the issue and get him a fight sooner. Waiting for the Leon fight potentially gets him a title shot next, or after one more fight.

If he beats Leon, he probably gets a title shot.

If he beats Magny, noones gonna really be demanding he fight for the belt because hes not a top ranked guy.

Its really as simple as that.
 
They should make him crush can every week until he's 50-0 and then book him against Tyson Fury in a boxing bout.

That would be great.
 
I would have given Magny also so the UFC would continue milking him in case he would have lost to Scott

Leon doesn't even want to fight him in the first place. They had to resort to blackmail. They are going to look like fools when he pulls out of the fight again next year.

Make the fight that you have while you have it. Leon will still be there next year if Khamzat fights Magny in two weeks. You could even skip Leon at that point and have him fight Masvidal or Colby. Right now none of those guys want to fight him because he isn't top 10 and hasn't fought anyone.
 
Totally different take than what I expected here. It’s not good to have weight cuts in close succession.

I think ponzi is healthy now....perfect man for the train derailment. ALL ABOARD: next stop , khamzat getting his nose punched in.......last stop- make sure everyone off.

Maybe you should stop making threads. Its only been a few hours since the announcement and youre already making assumptions.

Nothing is confirmed and even if so, what is wrong with that? Were in the last month of the year and you're seriously complaining? Its also been reported that Jorge is stepping in. Nothing is official yet. Take a seat and just wait, kiddo.
