Shannon Sharpe hit the nail on the head here you don’t play boxing (Or any other combat sports)

I know these comments might hurt NBA Fanboy feelings but it’s the truth! No basketball player could crossover and fight in the UFC let’s be real

You were onto something until you said no basketball player, that is simply ridiculous

I think you are kinda missing the point if you are talking about Joe Rogan's statement. By kinda I mean completely. He isnt saying LeBron would or should come over and dominate mma. He is saying if athletes with the physical ability and size of LeBron trained mma instead of basketball they would dominate. Why in sweet fuck would LeBron pass on his potential billions to play patty cake so you can see how tough he is? People are so in their feelings they miss the fact. Athletes like LeBron have options and getting punched for a living isn't high on many folks list of priority if they can make infinitely more without

Well it depends he might have the physical abilities for a certain sport, but how do you know he would have the physical abilities of hitting hard, and having a good chin?

Good to hear that from an American well known athlete and profile. American sportsball-fans need to get their heads out of their asses when it comes to sports in general. Your athletes aren't anything special. They are what other sports have, which are very good athletes in their specific sport. Like I don't see anyone else in the world stating how great so and so would be in another sport, or how much better atheletes they have in their sports. It's only americans.

Best part of Sharpe's spiel (the part that I watched, anyway) is that, in addition to probably being the most coherent and thought-out thing Sharpe has ever said on the air, Skip Bayless couldn't get a single word in.

And that's a wonderful thing.

If you took all basketball players and taught them mma, a certain percentage of them would be good at it. It's a game of numbers.

However picking a specific basketball player like LeBron would in all likelyhood go poorly. There is no evidence the dude can fight.

This. This a million times over.

I know there’s plenty of rational American posters here, but a disproportionate amount still guzzle the cool aid from the NBA abs NFL, making them believe that their calibre of athletes don’t exist in every corner of the globe, basically.

I’ve literally never had the conversation with any non-American either, even though the worlds biggest sports are all played outside the US.

Man mma fans have an inferiority complex about their own sport. Its really sad to see.

Yeah Shannons right, playing sports is one thing but fighting is a completely different animal. Regular sports are just chasing a ball around and a ton of rules to protect you. But the pure nature of fighting it is about physically hurting your opponent to win.

Fighting is the purest form of competition, shouldnt even be called a sport. Its in own class above normal ball sports
