Someone said Shogun is making 300k per fight. Thats a reason to fight i guess. Also think he genuinely believed he could beat Craig, who isnt really a super elite competitor.I wonder why so many of these, and will all due respect, completely over the hill fighters carry on competing. Is it just because they enjoy it? They need the money and/or want to cash in on their legacy a bit longer? Can't let go of what once was?
Some guys move onto other things in what feels like a fairly short time into their careers. Others drag it on forever.
In general I think it's mostly a money thing and a professional athlete mentality (the naive believe they are the best in the world). Also, cause they can. That may sound strange, but think about it. If you are a pro NFL player that is on the decline, you will be cut and replaced by a new guy. Yet in fighting, there are always promotions that can make money of a former legend like Silvia, Rua, Fedor etc. A former NFL athlete may go play for fun at a local club to maintain his condition and coach a bit, while a fighter can keep on making milions.I wonder why so many of these, and will all due respect, completely over the hill fighters carry on competing. Usually the ones that cant let go are ones that have been competing for their entire adult life and dont know how to do anything else.I wonder why so many of these, and will all due respect, completely over the hill fighters carry on competing. he already is. he fights smarter unfortunatelyHe has for years. Wait til Jones gets old.
Someone should make a legend's game with like Tony Montana vs Jon Elway for the QBs with all the 40 + year old running backs like Emmit Smith and Barry SandersIn general I think it's mostly a money thing and a professional athlete mentality (the naive believe they are the best in the world). Born fighters only know fighting, its in their blood it makes them feel alive. Combat sports or sports in general are unforgiving when the end comes. Very very hard transition.I wonder why so many of these, and will all due respect, completely over the hill fighters carry on competing. Is it just because they enjoy it?
