Very soon there will be 4 Russian champs. Currently it’s Yan and Khabib. Khamzat looks like a force to be reckoned with and Zabit also (if he improves his stamina).

You mean Canada's own Calgary born and bred Hakeem Dawodo?

Tell that to a dagestani :))

Khabib has referred to himself as Russian and White many times. Quit with the gay ethnic/race conversations, you guys don't even know what you're talking about.

Russia is a giant country thats mostly made up of many different regions, ethnicites and cultures similar to India or China really. One can be Avar, Dagestani and Russian.

Hunt is a New Zealander, but hes not a Maori. One can be a Samoan, a Maori or grom anyehere else and still be a New Zealander. Ethnicities are not pure, they are every changing things with no straight paths historically like languages and dialects.

Also what most people think of "Russians" as, in the north western region bordering Europe has a lot to do with Vikings over a thousand years ago settling and conquering in that region.

Hunt is Samoan

New Zealand isn't an ethnicity, its a nationality. Hunt was born in New Zealand and if you asked his nationality, he'd tell you hes a Kiwi. He wouldn't say hes a Maori, his family is Samoan but Samoans, like Maoris or anyone else can be a New Zealander if they were born there.

Come on guys, aren't you adults? Learn something.

In 10 years based on that MMA: Russia's obsession with Mixed Martial Arts documentary every Champion will be Russian, these kids are being bred to fight from like 6 years old and like a kid training BJJ all his life then switching over to MMA as a BJJ black belt specialist these kids are going to be coming in as the first generation of MMA specialists or the equivalent of an MMA black belt.

The "evolution" everyone loves to pretend has made the skillsets of past well rounded all time greats (who's game would be just as effective today) obsolete will actually start becoming a reality in the next decade or 2 and MMA will no longer be a viable career path for the guys who decide to fight on a whim in their mid 20s and make it to the top of the UFC rankings.

It will become like all the other elite pro combat sports that take a life time of training to get anywhere near the top of.

The competition level will improve and it will become extreme specialized like all the others.

This evolution may end up killing the UFC though cause as the sport becomes more and more out of reach of the average person the athletes will demand a higher and higher percentage of the revenue they generate as well as demanding legitimacy in the rankings and clear, merit based paths to Championships that are the ultimate validation of what they've dedicated their lives to.
