He does it all at the highest levels SIMULTANEOUSLY!

I see a lot of people on here acting unimpressed and dismissive of his win against Tyron Woodley. I can't see for the life of me why, he was just as dominant as Usman was. With him being the last guy to finish Maia in over 10 years, nobody else in the division is going to want anything to do with him on the ground. Usman and Colby have a nightmare matchup on their hands. A consistent competitor like him is not gonna wear down and gas out like so many of their other opponents.

Granted, there are a lot of guys in MMA with great jiu jitsu pedigrees, but most of them usually stop competing in jiu jitsu when they make it in MMA. Mackenzie Dern hasn't competed since 2017 since the got booted out of the first round of ADCC, for Maia he hasn't been competed since he made it into the UFC. Other MMA fighters go into grappling after they are already established, but most of them do exhibitions against other MMA fighters or compete in regular tournaments as a colored belt.

Even among the jiu jitsu specialists, more and more of them are specializing in gi with the fancy lapel guards or no gi's leglock meta.

Meanwhile Burns is out here doing it all, taking on the very best of the best in no gi, gi, and now finally MMA.

Burns is indeed a very good prospect.
he is pleasantly surprising the hell out of me, especially in the Woodley fight.
As for Maia, come on now! He knocked Maia out, but it's not like he dominated Maia on the ground. He caught Maia, that's about it.

but it is a fact that he improved his stand up to a point where people gotta take it seriously. And if he takes the fight to the ground, they know it is about over.

i meant since he knocked out maia, nobody else for him to fight that will try to go to the ground with him

this guy is the most complete fighter in the category.

he beats Masvidal, Colby and Nate too.

Kenzie was taking her BJJ as serious when she competed at the last addcc and few tournaments before that. I train with her.

If she concentrated on BJJ, should would go back to winning everything again.

Youd be surprised how many MMA fighters still compete in grappling events.
He'll lose one of his next two.

He just got submitted in under 2 minutes at SUG and got starched by a featherweight.

after he stratches Fakenewsman WWE and boxing are next!

First ever 5C

Gilbert Burns is a good fighter but him beating an old rusty Woodley isn’t impressive to me. Think basically everyone else in Top 5 gives him trouble.

Especially guys like Masvidal and Edwards that have crisp striking

I see a lot of people doubting Burns. I think he's more than capable of ruling ww. If he keeps his head on straight, he's good. I'm always sceptical about prospects, but I saw a lot of intangibles. I know he lost at lw, but he looked massive next to a huge ww. I think he may have been killing himself to make 155.

He ate a couple of clean right hands and didn't even blink. He took Woodley down easily, who has some of the best tdd in mma.

I understand why some of you aren't seeing it. He did what others have done in the past to Woodley, but that was the worst asswhoopin Woodley has taken since he's been at this level. Woodley has gotten a lot better since the Marquardt and Rory fights. Burns handled him like he wasn't shit. I think if he didn't respect that right hand(I know he felt it because he ate a few), he would've got himself a ko.

Khabib is already a sambo world champion, NAGA champion, and UFC champion

Also a world wildlife wrestling champion

Oh, my bad then. You got an excellent point! (my bad for not following your point).
On the ground, there's no one like him (now that maia is out of the race).

This is kind of how Werdum took the crown from Cain.

Good standup and such an amazing ground game, that even losing the standup, they will take the fight down to avoid getting KO'd... which plays perfectly to their game!
