Which is a damn crime. He hasn't fought a single elite WW. Till was very obviously cutting too much weight, and killing his chin doing it. Nate is a LW, and not even a top ten there. Askren was a 4 second flying knee, and he's retired now after realizing he can't hang.

Would much rather see a rematch between Usman and Colby, that fight was fireworks.

Who do you think should fight him next?

That's some solid revisionist history you've done there

well masvidal vs usman much better than the decision machine leon scott
that fight already happen and it was boring

I'm fine with Masvidal being next as I want to see Masvidal get smashed.
It should be Edwards but he'll get Woodley in London in March instead.

As an added note, I think stylistically Thompson is a nightmare match up for Usman, but he'll obviously have to work his way up.

How so? The only relevant thing nate has done in years is best a FW McGregor, and that was literally years ago. Askren had a fluke win over Robbie, then lost 2 in a row. Till's only major win at WW was a tentative and boring decision over thompson. He got absolutely steamrolled by Woodley immediately after and then got Mas.

Only me who thinks Jorge has a good chance against Usman? lol

To be honest, I think Jorge is being pretty underrated among hardcore fans. It is clear to me that he has evolved a lot, and he become a very good (and underrated) grappler. It's not easy to wrestlefuck him.

I can see him stopping some Usman's takedowns and making the champ pay for it on the feet. And even if he's takedown, Mas has enough grappling level to not take much damage. We saw it against Maia, who said after that Masvidal was one of the best grapplers he has ever faced. That's a hell of a compliment.

I really believe that Jorge should take this fight.

Nah, I'm with you.

It's that people think he's overrated post-Askren fight (fair, I guess)

Masvidal is getting wrecked in his next fight. Leon or Usman would destroy him. Colby would, too.

Jorge is a tough fight for Usman. Usman is going to have a massive size advantage that he will need to use. That’s how he beats Jorge. When they’re standing he’s going to be in danger. He gets hit a lot and Masvidal has been shutting lights out. I would place this relatively close to pick ‘em odds, slightly favoring Usman, and consider Masvidal to be more of a threat to Usman than Colby was.

I do believe he's one of the best all-rounders in the sport, but he consistently falls short against specialists. He lacks the wrestling to really enforce a gameplan. Elite strikers like Thompson pick him apart, elite grapplers like maia grind him out. And Usman is a significant better wrestler than maia.

Why do you think Usman is going to strike with Jorge? He's gonna press him against the cage and beat on him, just like literally every fight he's had except for Colby. Jorge has a punchers chance, but Usman's chin is rock solid.

They already set this thing up, Masvidal is ranked ahead of Edwards...Colby wont fight soon, and the other higher ranked fighter is Woodley, who he already beat to get the belt, Masvidal is next, enjoy the build up and fight, Edwards will get his shot at the belt.

Mw snoozefest Usman that i bet your balls that hr is on peds is gonna experience what a great striker Mas is!

Last night showed us that Usman is quite hittable. It's a tough fight for Jorge, but with the right gameplan he has the tools to win.

Crazy thing is, they've got Mas ranked higher than Woodley, #2 right behind Colby. On what basis?? Via what win?? I actually like Mas and think he's a fun fighter, but to rank him anywhere above middle of the pack right now is just taking advantage of the made-up BMF title to sell wolf tickets.

You do realize usman is damn near a pure wrestler, right? Colby being one as well forced that fight to be a kickboxing match, but he isn't striking with Mas.

Hence why I said that Jorge, with the right gameplan, has the tools to win.

You make a good point.
But the fight with Maia was extremely close and Jorge is a better fighter today than at the time. And I don't want to use excuses, but seems to me that he was kinda outta shape against Wonderboy.

He's in his prime today. He would be the favorite against Usman? No, because what you said has a certain true. But, again, I think he has more chances than many people are giving to him. I don't see Usman as this bogeyman. I don't see the champ doing to Jorge what he did to Woodley, for example.
