I never noticed this feature but it's a neat concept. I like that they include it since wear and tear matters so much in MMA.

I thought I would list some popular fighter's combat age and list some links, they seem pretty accurate to me in that the fighters that have fought much longer and/or taken lots of damage have a much wider gap between their combat age and their actual age.

Fedor combat age 55 real age 43

Sometimes when I review fightmatrix.com I think its brilliant, other times I think its totally asinine. Thanks for posting, definitely will check more into this. I would say off the top, there is no definitive way to create a fighters combat age (but what do I know). Interesting nonetheless.

some more imaginary stuff that ppl can fight about. fightmatrix understands the true essence of sherdog.

How much damage a guy has taken definitely impacts his ability to take shots.

Is every fighter owning a "combat age" greater than their actual age?

Edit: I checked Greg Hardy, and he's younger so I guess not.

I'm surprised Khabib is considered four years older, since he seems to have taken relatively little damage in his career to-date.

Neat concept though. I'd love to study how they quantified it.

I think for Khabib it's due to how long he's been training/fighting rather than damage taken/injuries cause I agree he hasn't had many of either of those. That's interesting that they can have a combat age younger than their real age. Their formula for combat age would be interesting to see.
