Let's not be stupid here it's very clear they want Mcgregor to fight the winner of Masvidal vs Diaz, and from a marketing standpoint it's pretty smart. Plus it'll be the most pointless belt in the history of the ufc so who cares if he ties up the belt.

It is a one time belt. There won't be any physical belt on the line if/when Conor fights the winner of BMF belt.

actually believe it or not, so is the UFC championship title.. It's not recognized by any sanctioning body or commision. Dana was on a radio show the other day on siriusxm talking about zuffa boxing, and he mentioned he doesn't care about the sanctioning bodies because they don't exist in his mind. he went on then to explain how the UFC belt isn't recognized by anybody but it still holds its value because the best fight the best.

The BMF belt isn't a "division". If Conor did move up to welterweight he'd be decimated by someone like Usman or plenty of the other wrestlers there.
