Can we all collectedly agree on this? Tony is a much more dangerous opponent for your average Lightweight than Cowboy is, and he's riding an 11 fight win streak as well. Cerrone couldn't put together a streak half that long nowadays even if his life depended on it. And since Khabib seems intent on sitting out till November, Tony needs a fight and McGregor is the next best option.

It's also a Win-Win situation in other ways: Tony gets a Red Panty Night (which he definitely deserves over Donald) and Conor gets to justify himself as the #1 contender again by defeating the actual #1 contender, Tony Ferguson.

It would be the fight Conor would take if he still believed in himself.

He doesn't.

He'd rather go to hell than fight the butcher Tony with unlimited cardio. He ducked already twice when Tony was interim and never let his name cross his mouth.

Conor and UFC knows fucking better than that shit

No one wants Tony, Khabib could probably beat him but risky.

Conor doesn't deserve the fight.
He's 1-1 as a LW, he'd need a LW win or two to get in the cage with the 2nd best LW in the UFC.

Like I said though, it's logical for their paths to cross now since Khabib is gonna sit out till the end of the year.

i've been saying this since he got owned by khabib.

they should have him fight tony, because out of the top guys, conor's best chance at an impressive victory is against ferguson. tony gets clipped in every fight, and he doesn't use his wrestling offensively. they can have khabib vs GSP, GSP beats khabib, then they have the biggest fight in history with GSP vs conor. after GSP mops the floor with conor, they can both retire, and khabib fights tony for the vacant belt.

it's perfect.

Logical to fight a washed up FW who doesn't belong in that division? Besides the money, there isn't any logic in that unless Conor wants himself in the ER.

Conor is a more natural Lightweight than he is a Featherweight. How does he not belong at LW? Plus he'd be the biggest win on Tony's resume easily.

It's time for the UFC to cash in and use Conor to hype Tony v Khabib

Tony will retire Conor, while Ufc moves on to a new age and these two warriors finally settle who is best at 155.

He's 1-1 at LW and has been gifted a TS before. A few fighters in that division would whoop his ass tbh. The biggest win on Tony's resume would be a proven top 5 WW, not that joke. And needless to say Conor is legit afraid to even say his name LOL

Listen...

Multi millionaires don’t fight people like Tony Ferguson

I respect your opinion but Tony rolls punches likes no other. Sure he gets clipped up, often, but so what if conor can not follow him down and finds himself in a phone booth by second round?

Tonys whole game is smash my body against yours and lets see who breaks ... Connie ass will definite break first IMO

Khabib has no choice but to sit out.

How does a guy on a losing streak who hasn't won a fight in over 2 years deserve a fight against the #1 contender on an 11 fight winning streak?

Better question is how is a guy who hasn't won a fight in 2 years and is 1-1 in the division ranked 2nd to begin with!!!! That makes no sense whatsoever.

Khabib was more than willing to fight him during his ascension. Nowadays, though...

Frankly, I am sick and tired of this diva-like behavior that fighters tend to adopt the second they come into prominence. I hope Tony will be above it if he manages to take that strap.

Conor is a former Lightweight Champion, that's why. We know his name value is responsible otherwise for why he's ranked so high, but that's part of the game. It's also a reason Tony would welcome a fight with him - Because he knows it'd be the biggest fight of his career and secure him the most lucrative payday. And a win over him would accelerate his own name value with the casuals.

What's Eddie ranked now a days? Just out of curiosity...
