I received a white A3 Ouano lightweight competition gi in the mail today.

Right out of the package it was pretty big. I was worried, because I spent the last week wondering if I should have ordered an A2. In case you're wondering I am 6', 165lbs.

I just took it out of the dryer and although it's still not as fitted as I would like, it fits reasonably well. The sleeves and skirt are on the long side, and the body fits quite wide relative to other gi's of the same size.

For anyone else considering ordering this gi, note that it seems to fit a bit large, so if you're in-between sizes go for the smaller size.

Regardless of fit, which was my mistake, I can't say enough good about this gi. It looks amazing, with high-quality materials and stitch work. It's noticeably softer inside than my other gi's were out of the bag.

The collar is EVA foam as opposed to cotton or rubber as in my other gi's, and is a medium thickness - but lighter than my other gi's.

The orange stitching, patches, draw-string and belt-loops all look way better in person than on the net. The pants are a fine rip-stop, and do shrink a small amount.

Lastly, the service was exceptional and the shipping was really fast. Props to John Ouano for the wonderful product.

Gi Jacket: 6/10 - would be 8/10 if I got the right size.
Gi Pants: 9/10
Gi Materials & Construction: 8/10
Gi Aesthetics: 9/10
Service: 9/10
Overall: 8/10

Here's some pics following the first round of shrinkage.

nice I got the black and green one last monday, but I haven't worn it yet

TangoMF,

Do you normally wear A3's?
I used to always buy A3's but lately have bought A4's and shrunk them down. 6'-6'1" and 225 puts me on the bigger end of A3's but out of the packaging A4's are way too big.

now my question is as with shoyorolls they dont let you use these at IBJJF competitions because of the collars largeness - am i right?

Thanks for posting this. I have been debating ordering since last Friday but have been hesitant because the lack of reviews.

I was torn between the gameness feather and this.

Can you post pictures of the pants?

Either way, I just placed an order for a white A1.

So let me get this straight, I wear an A2 in most reputable brands, does this mean I should order an A1??? I'm 5'8 195 stocky/athletic/fairly muscluar build.

I have the black one and I love it. I have am 5'11" and 210lbs and I have an A3. I feel like pants are really big around the waist (it seems like it would fit someone who was 5'11" 240), but just the right length. Jacket seems slightly large, but overall I like the fit. I have an A3 on a Shockwave gi, and it feels like the jacket is a bit small. I have a fat belly, so I don't like that ;)

Funny, I normally wear an A4 and John Ouano suggested I order the A3 for this, I ordered the A3 and it fits like a glove, I'm pretty careful not to shrink it now haha. Awesome gi though, it's very comfortable and Ouano in general is pretty awesome.

do you know how many people competed in SYR's at worlds? I will give you a hint, more than one.

Did you ever confirm what size you take for Ouano? I am the same size as you... just curious....

made the same mistake with an ouano once there sizing is big , kinda like korals .

These Gi's look pretty sexy. All three colours have a good look to them. Good choice on thread/gi material choices.

These Ouanos are supposed to be right there with the Koral lightweight gi's I like Vulkan's... I really want the Ouano once they arent back ordered.
