News #1 Contender Lorenz Larkin is a free agent

Still a great fighter I hope he returns to the UFC

Would be great to see him back in the UFC. They already picked up MVP so another aging striker who can still put on a show, and more reliably than Page, should be a no-brainer.

Why the fuck did they let him go in the first place? He's like 38 now...pass. you can sign Samandar, Cezary, Khotam and like some other prospect for a Larkin 6 figure contract. Fuck nah.

Cezary is gonna be a non-factor like his brother. There I said it.

But legitimately Larkin is more valuable to them than an European who might not make the jump in competition well, his current run where he melted Berkhamov and Chokheli will only endear him to Dana and co since that's what they're looking for.

They let him go during the little exodus that happened when Coker was overpaying for UFC guys. Him, Mousasi, Bader and a bunch of others are bidding wars they should've never lost. Sucks nobody in the american continent gives a crap about MMA past UFC so they never end up getting blowback from shitty stuff like that.

It's like the third time they've sunk a competitor by letting them bid more for ranked fighters.

Definitely invest in top talent that's 25 and under rather than 40 year olds who cost a lot lmao. Use that money to sign Parnasse.

The UFC hardly ever signs dudes who left them for Bellator with big 200K+ contracts anymore so I just don't see that happening.

Gegard, Benson, Davis, etc always ended up back in Bellator because Coker was willing to keep them for that type of money. The PFL has seemingly moved away from that model and is just putting money towards their leagues like PFL Central Europe or whatever.

The PFL/Bellator buyout has been really bad for older fighters in general. Look at the pay cut Douglas Lima had to take to continue fighting. The same thing will happen with Larkin.

KSW? RIZIN ?
KSW is possible, I guess, About the same chances of ACA getting him.

Let's face it, RIZIN just isn't committed to building a good international roster anymore. Hasn't been their focus since COVID. I'd be shocked if they signed a well-known American MMA fighter in a heavier weight class in 2024.

I'd say resigning with the PFL for a massive paycut or with a BKFC/Gamebred promotion is most likely. The MMA market isn't what it was in the 2010s. Not even close.

There are not many options for a fighter like him … he has to take a pay cut wherever he goes

Hopefully back to UFC, but they didn't pay him in his prime when he was ranked like 6, i doubt they pay him 8 years later.

PFL buying Bellator was the worst thing that could happen to non-UFC MMA. It has been a complete and utter disaster for fighters and fans. We have gotten less events and lesser quality, and fighters have gotten shittier options. It has just made the UFC stronger and I would not be surprised if PFL collapses soon, too.

KSW? RIZIN ?
Larkin/Mousasi in Japan for crazy all day event would work. Mousasi goes home, and Larkin is a guy who'd fit right in, in Japan. Winner gets Igor Tanabe, he needs opponents. Good way to amp up MW in RIZIN and get those recognizable names everyone has been begging for.

Eek, Fatninja aint ready for those two yet I don't think.

Ufc or rizin
His flashy style would make him a star in Japan

If he returns to ufc, thompson, page or holland are all great matchups

Has there ever been a worse time to be MMA fighter, zero leverage or bidding between MMA promotions. Basically it's UFC or bust now

Right now PFL is so scattered but still doing better than ONE or Combate. PFL still has investors that believe their nonsense and keep trying stuff.
