I'm browsing the movies for rent by Youtube and am in disbelief.

Star Wars: A New Hope $22.99

Incredibles: $19.99 (discounted from $22.99)

Pacific Rim Uprising: $17.99

Wreck-it Ralph: $19.99 (discounted from $22.99)

Can anyone explain these prices to me? Would anyone rent a movie for this price? Am I misunderstanding something and you're actually buying a DVD that they mail to you? I'm in Canada right now: am I getting Canadian prices? What are the prices in America?

That's absurd. I've used the feature a few times to rent movies for like $2.99 where it expires after 3-5 days.

Huh? Are you sure those are the "rent" price and not the "buy" price?

They're mixed in with movies priced at $3.99. I'm not seeing a distinction between renting and buying.
Wreck It Ralph $14.99 US. After clicking on the title it does mention renting for $2.99.

$14.99 is most likely for "lifetime" streaming.

It's similar to video gamers buying half a game that has to be played online, with servers that will be largely abandoned in a year or two when the future has moved on. If they like the game they can enjoy micro transactions to buy DLC which is often cosmetic

$17.99 US on both You Tube and Amazon but Amazon lists it as a buy. It doesn't seem to mean it is sold as a disc. Apparently available for repeated viewing.
