GSP
Has 19 top 5 wins

Is a two division champion

13 fight win streak

9 title defenses

Has avenged both of his losses in dominating fashion

Every fighter he has ever faced fought for a major organization and has a winning record.

Anderson Silva
13 top 5 wins

17 fight win streak (16 in the UFC)

15 finishes during win streak

10 title defenses

3 wins at LHW

Both are great, but Imo I give the edge to GSP.

GSP.

Two div champ.

Avenged all losses.

Never lost a round.

this "avenge losses" is not an argument.

Top 5 competition....there were only 5 guys for him to fight anyways.

It really doesnt matter. They were both awesome in there own ways. 2 goats. We as fans are the ones who got lucky to experience it all.

Comparing careers is not even close
GSP has never lost a non championship fight
Made UFC debut at age 22
1st loss was at 23 years old against arguably the #1 p4p fighter at the time (Hughes)
Won 1st UFC title at 24
Has never lost after losing to Serra at the age of 25
Most UFC title bouts
Most UFC titles
Most UFC wins
Tied for 2nd in longest UFC winning streak (and still active)

Anderson only became relevant after 30 years old and before 37. GSP has been relevant his entire career....from the begining

I voted for GSP because his career is better

Anderson had a higher peak though, and would've finished GSP if they'd fought in their primes

Anderson's best wins are Chael Sonnen 2x, Henderson, and Vitor.

Okami, Marquat, Cote, Maia, Leites, Irvin, Griffin, Bonnar, Leben, Lutter...I mean really? A lot of these guys are great fighters, but most of them journeymen whom never held a title in the first place except Griffin.

GSP > Silva

GSP has never been caught using PEDs and steroids. He, Fedor and Aldo are the true GOATS

What's up with all these GSP/Silva threads? Is this 2008?

To be fair GSP is still the lineal WW and MW champion and Silva just got cleared by USADA and can fight as soon as October of this year.

Gsp.

I think it odd he gets blasted for losing to Serra, but then gets credit for beating Serra—it goes in to an avenged loss and a win over the champ and a win over top 5 guy.

Nevertheless, anderson was a cheat. That pains me to say, but he was caught cheating.

I think any clean .500 fighter has a better career than any champ caught cheating.

If you read Wikipedia GSP

If you watch the tape Anderson Silva

Anderson’s prime consisted of a (UFC record) 17 fight win streak, 15 finishes (13 within 2 rounds), 10 title defenses, and 3 LHW KOs.

GSP’s prime consisted of 7 straight decisions (8/9 decisions) and tapping to strikes to a LW journeyman.

The difference is drinkability.

Anderson was confirmed to be greater than GSP by the people that matter, their peers. And it wasn’t close.

Both are great, but Imo I give the edge to GSP.
Silva had a higher finishing rate during his time, but GSP has faced the far more superior competition and has beaten everyone who he's ever fought. both have a case, but GSP deserves the nod here and there's no arguing that at all, IMO.

Only thing that would've shot GSP's stock up even higher, is if during his Prime, he would've moved up to 185 and faced Silva for the belt. even though he did it with Bisping, it would've been far more legendary if he would've moved up and beat Silva at his best, then maybe retired as the MW champ, because after that, there really would've been nothing left for him to accomplish. That was my dream match and as a hardcore fan, I was hurt that it never came to fruition. :(

That's a lie.

GSP fanboys made up this lie to justify their fanaticism to a guy who couldn't put the spectacles Silva was showcasing while the CHANGED the sport. GSP's contribution to MMA is none, he was a fighter like all others, boring, nothing outstanding and his competition was inferior to what Anderson faced.

If it wasn't so, GSP could easily have stopped the weight cut and fought at MW. He didn't because he knew it was easier to fight oversized LWs.

Winning records of the opponents alone is not impressive. Some guys can rack up the victories against the scrubs and have a losing record against top competition
