Is there an area / locality in USA that can benefit from a BJJ black belt instructor? Market seems pretty saturated in major cities (NY, DC, etc) but you still do not see BJJ schools closing or not having enough students. I am sure that even in big cities there are neighborhoods that can use good BJJ instruction from a black belt.

Thoughts?

Maybe Ridgecrest CA. It is home to large Naval Base. The employment is definitely steady, and income probably pretty good because DOD contractors usually are. You may find a steady stream of income there teaching. The RE costs I hear are low for CA too.

I may be wrong. A californio will know more.

Or even Tehachapi CA. It is really beautiful there. There is a large prison, a cement plant, and some windmills that provide the employment. You can offer a all discipline kind of school to cover everyone's needs.

Also I was talking about NEPA on another forum. That is Northeast Pennsylvania, aka the Poconos. The area is surprisingly populated. There is the little section right where I-80 and I-81 intersect. Lots of warehousing, some light manufacturing, plus tourism. Lots of skiing in winter, and summer has hiking, water parks, and I think some casinos.

So there is steady employment in that area. You want to open school in place with an actual economy of course. I dont believe there is a school in this section of NEPA (I-80 and I-81 intersection). There maybe schools further north in the Wilkes Barre/Scranton area though.

man send some gracies over to india

as far as the US? hmm I figure most places would probably have schools within driving distance

aside from Alaska

I think if you have a bad service then you will fail even if you are the only Bjj supplier in your area.

Stuff teaching in America. Use your BJJ to travel and see the world. India is the untapped market right now. You could charge anything over there right now and start an MMA gym.

67% of India lives below poverty level. Those who can afford top quality BJJ and MMA are the small, rich elite living in larger cities. You are talking about people who have drivers because they dont like to drive and cooks because they dont like to cook. You want them to get sweaty and "roll" with random dudes?

Keep in mind that India had wrestling and boxing even before MMA and BJJ were around. The only social class who participated were from the poor and illiterate areas.

In short, there are people in India who have aptitude for MMA but they cant afford to pay. Then there are people who can afford to pay but they do not have the aptitude for it.

It is a risky market. You can go there and do seminars but to invest over there and open a gym?

The money is in China right now. Cities with 5+ million people and no BJJ gyms.

Go to Tajikistan or Turkmenistan lmao, they both like sambo and wrestling over bjj.. but it's worth a try..

True, but then you might get lung cancer or bronchitis from all the smog and air pollution, lol.

A friend of mine has been in China for 4 years and recently said that he can see the difference in air quality since the Chinese government decided to tackle the problem. That was pleasant to hear. The water is still filthy as fuck though.

That is another good one.Though china has had a few fighters in the UFC recently.

India only just had there first in the last month and he trains out of Jackson-Wink.

I was training at an MMA gym in South east Asia recently and a couple of the guys were Indian so I know how much they are screaming for BJJ/Grappling coaches.
I won't name names but these guys had undefeated ammy/pro mma records(with sub wins) and I was quite comfortable in sparring and would say I would win 9/10.
This was due to grappling experience and I am nothing special.

A purple belt with decent no gi sub grappling credentials could start a very successful MMA gym in India right now.

To generalize, the all round level of everything bar wrestling is low over there.
They were great guys to train with though.

I wonder if a legit Catch coach would be an in interesting fit? Assuming you could find one.

The reason I bring it up is because India has a strong Gupta Wrestling history with moves that closely match Folk wrestling, IMO Catch submissions might fit in more organically than BJJ.

Just a thought.

I reckon you are onto something there. Something like that would fit well with the style of wrestling available.

Too bad CACC is disappearing

China from what hear

Also Antarctica

Yes! I live in a small town in SW Colorado....Ridgway. We need a black belt in the worst way. The ‘leader’ of our group of blues has a space with an octagon that we train in. Wouldn’t be much money to be made unfortunately. You could possibly wrangle up a kids class, plus a few bucks from us lowly blues.

caucuses cause they are more wrestling focused and they see bjj is something prancy.
