The story of Chavez jr is going to be one of those tragic tales of a great fighter who was beset by various high-powered crime families all telling him to take a dive.
Think of it... one fight you've got an Argentinian Crime Family telling you to drop a tough decision against a wily Scaramouche.

Then less than 3 years later a high power Polish Crime Family tells you to essentially say "no mas" in the 9th round.

And finally to make matters worse.... your own people. Your own people turn on you and the next thing you know a high power Mexican Crime Family is telling you to "be reluctant with your punches.... ensure you lose a wide decision".

We focus on these things.... but we don't focus on the TWO TIMES he stared down powerful Irish Crime Families and said "no!".
Or in 2011 and 2016 when he refused to buckle to two different threats from two high power German Crime Families.

I have always thought JCC Jr's style never made any use of his height and length. He should have made a style similar to his dad's nemesis, DLH. When Oscar was younger he used his footwork a lot to avoid attacks and cut off the other guy and jab the piss out of him. Oscar's a converted southpaw yes but JCC could've used that basic template and been a LOT better.

True... but strong affiliation with a powerful crime family would also have helped.

Leave it to MCPB to bring the hard hitting facts to light that boxing wishes to keep in the dark.

Watch yourself my good friend, the powers that be will turn on you and the boxing insiders will shun you for speaking about the unspeakable.

Cheers to you for your bravery. You should be a shoe in for an ESPY award.

It just highlights that there are many elements you need in order to be successful at boxing.
1) Shifting (fucking Germans and their bombing raids)
2) Aggressive Muscularity
3) Connections to underworld crime syndicates.

I guess the Irish Mob aint shit and gots no pull.

I have a friend who has ties to various criminal organizations on the ground level (crips, bloods, Latin kings). He suggested that Chavez wasn't told to take a dive against Fonfara (ironic considering he literally did a trust fall in that fight) but rather Fonfara was part off to win by the Polish mob.
